Works great for my large heavy dog.
Reviewed in the United States on March 11, 2020I recommend this product, very highly. It was challenging to get her on it the first time, even after successful training. She is a large dog (Bernese Mountain Dog) and she's never walked on anything like this, up high. (I have a 2002 Highlander) The floor of the car is just below the top of her head. I also think she isn't crazy about the texture under her feet . But, I hold her under her tummy and from behind, under her tail at her thighs, and walk with her-- that makes her feel secure enough, and she climbs it great. She has done this successfully four times now and getting better with more confidence each time! I'm so proud of her! She's such a good girl. I bought this because I hoped it would be wide enough to make her secure, long enough to make a gradual slope, and strong enough to hold her without bouncing with her weight (108 lbs.)-- it met ALL my expectations. Very sturdy, and it's not too heavy for me to lift and it fits in the car behind the front seat when she's in it so it's not in her way. I was afraid it would be too heavy for this 60 year old disabled woman, but the more I use it, the easier it gets. The same can be said for my dog using it. I am very pleased with this product. if you work with your dog, don't force them, and give them time to know they are safe and secure, this ramp will work for you. Remember, you are asking them to walk on something that is at least as high off the ground and they are tall. Put yourself in their place. **If I were to make one design change- it would be to add little "speed bump" shaped rises in it. Not a lot of them, (maybe only about 6 or 8) and not very high, and ONLY on the top section. As she gets higher, I think she's afraid she's going to slide backwards. I don't think it would cost them a lot either. They could put cutouts in the tread over the bumps. The tread helps a lot, but I think, as she gets higher above the ground, if her paws felt little support bumps from behind, it would help. When I was shopping and comparing, I thought that would be beneficial. The grainy texture of the tread prevents slipping, but the higher it gets, the less helpful that seems. Just my suggestion to the manufacturer, I highly recommend this product for large dogs and all others too.

Great Ramp
Reviewed in the United States on February 27, 2026This one works great. I tried two other types but returned them both before finding this. The first one was a multi-fold that would have been good for saving space but it was too bulky and the second one was a lighter plastic folding ramp but ended up being too much of an arch for my lab. This telescope ramp is lightweight and fits great in the back of my small SUV. It took a few tries for my older pup to get used to it, but now she goes up and down easily. It has a strong sandpaper type of liner that helps her grip. Super easy to use.

My dogs no longer hurt their old bodies jumping from the SUV
Reviewed in the United States on September 3, 2021I love this is light weight, 20 lbs. I love that it can carry 300 lbs, although we don’t need that much. I love that it has a handle & strap. I love that the part the animal walks on has a kind of scratchy surface, slightly resembling fine sand paper, so the pet doesn’t easily slide.
We have had it a couple months. It’s the only reason my dogs can still go for a ride in the car, which they love, & have done nearly every day, ears flapping in the breeze, excited smile on their faces.
I am 71, and can manage this thing despite respiratory problems which makes my endurance far less than just a few years ago. The outer working part is made of aluminium, and one part slides under the other. One can snap the snap which would make it easier to carry by the handle if necessary. I never snap it cause I almost always leave it in the back of my Enclave, which fits nicely with both seats down so the dogs have the entire back with room to sit by the windows. The only problem I anticipate is it seems to be slightly harder to slide open & shut, as if it needs waxed or simething. Kind of fearful of gumming up the works by trying wax or oil. Its aluminum on aluminum which seems to be tending toward not being as easy. I’ll let you know if I find a solution, but it isn’t really a problem just yet.. just anticipating. Also, the rough surface is still rough, but I could see it becoming less rough/more slippery over time & use. I got the longest ramp cause my dogs are big, one over 100 lbs, and she has ligament & arthritic pain, & her leg will completely give out. The smaller dog (by 30 lbs) limps occasionally. It doesn’t make sense to reduce an angle not enough to benefit the pet..so the longer the ramp, the easier/less steep the angle the animal must traverse. Also, it took a few days of light training to get the dogs to use the ramp because Moxie indicated “this is dumb..I can jump” and Daisy-doodle was afraid of it, but after a few days they use it without problems. I have to reinforce Moxie by chaining her to leash in back seat while I open the door & put out the ramp, because she WILL jump from the end and she’s an old dog. Daisy-Doodle is generally a good girl & will wait if I tell her “Back-off” while putting the ramp out. This ramp allows my dogs to maintain their usual happy way of life despite their age directly limiting their activity now. If it breaks, I’ll buy another, but i don’t see that happening. It’s sturdy. If there was a way to improve it, it may be making the long one, (we have), a bit wider too, cause DD is tall, wide, wobbly and heavy. But keeping the ability to easily manage the size & weight may be a factor. Also some upkeep advice on how to keep the aluminum easily sliding within itself would be helpful.. how do I maintain that? Should I use pledge or oil on it, or would that mess it up? I am happy she can & will use it, & consider it one of my bedmst purchases for my pooches.
9/13/22 Update. Ly biggest pupper, Daisy Doodle passed away. The ramp stillworks well. Sometimes positioning it differently helps the tracks slide. I haven’t put any grease, polish or oil on it. I’ve gotten so I can get it in & out of the car pretty quickly. When Doo was at her sickest she couldn’t get up the ramp. I discovered parking at the bottom of my driveway which is down a hill and also has a curb, with my car in street level below the curb, backed up so the ramp is lower in the car than further up the drive, lessened the angle of the ramp so doo was able to walk up it. I miss her terribly but she had a good happy life, which is some small consolation. Moxie is still managing the ramp quite well, although is getting up there in years and mentation, some days better than others. But she can still enjoy smiling out the window with the breeze in her face. Now I drive real slow up & down the streets so she can see the younger dogs out with their families walking, too. The non slip surface they walked on is still quite adequate. Sometimes when I try to pull the ramp out, the top part kind of hooks on the mat I have covering the carpet in the back of the enclave. The trick is lifting the back up by pressing the part by the door in a way which frees the innermost side. Putting the ramp in the car, I first put the front in the car a few feet back, then kind of toss the rest in with the innermost part elevated while the outermost part is lower. You’ll figure out what best works for you. I am just delighted my dogs got to enjoy their lives, and the ramp allowed that to happen. They sure love riding in the car.
Update Oct 19,2022:
Still sliding ok. No additional problems with it sliding within itself that I worried about earlier. This is a really great product snd I’m so glad I was able to keep my puppers happy with their car rides!

Compact.
Reviewed in the United States on May 20, 2026Great product. I dont have any dog or pets, but bought this for loading our small bikes in our minivan. Not even really started using it much but tried once and it seems a life saver. Weighs as much as (or very slightly higher than ) a cabin bag.
Very compact and sturdy, though have be careful of edges when folding/unfolding as it can slip and unfold accidently.

Fairly good ramp, with some issues.
Reviewed in the United States on May 12, 2013Overall, this is a good pet ramp. It is very sturdy, a good width, and works well with our car (Ford Escape). The ramp telescopes very well in that you can have the incline as steep or as gradual as you need; for instance, if you are in a smaller area and cannot fully extend the ramp, it still works well. It is heavy, but not so much so that it is difficult to maneuver.
The non-skid coating feels more like fine-grit sandpaper. When moving the ramp out of the car it slipped and scraped the skin off of my knuckles - left a bloody mess. The non-skid is an adhesive sheet and we have had the ramp about 2 months now and use it on average two times a week - the sheet is already peeling off. Without the non-skid sheet the plastic of the ramp would be too slick for our dog, so we are looking at other options to put a different non-skid coating on the surface. I cannot stress enough how abrasive the surface of this ramp is - it is literally painful if you rub against it.
The ramp is secured in closed position by a plastic strap that snaps into place, but this is located at the bottom edge of the ramp. If you release the strap before setting the bottom edge on the ground, it is very easy to lose your grip on the ramp and it will telescope out rapidly. This is often where the non-skid coating sands the skin from your fingers. However, if you set the bottom edge on the ground, it is very difficult to release the strap and extend the ramp - you have to be kneeling on the ground to do it. So, the strap seems to be in a very poor position - it would make much better sense to have it at the top of the ramp for easier deployment.
The carrying handle on the side is fairly useless. It is very thick and stiff plastic and sits very close to the side of the ramp, so it is difficult to even get your hand in there to use when needed.
There are two plastic "feet" at the bottom tips of the ramp, presumably for traction and to preserve the metal frame of the ramp. One of those has already snapped off. An easy fix, but disappointing to see in an item that costs over $100.
Pros:
It does the job - it is a sturdy ramp that my dog has no trouble using and gets her in and out of the car with ease.
It does collapse into a somewhat low profile size, so it is easy to store in the car when not in use. It fits in the back of our car without a problem.
Cons:
The non-skid sheets are effective for giving traction to my dog, but it is horrible for my hands. Extremely rough and abrasive. Additionally, the sheets are peeling off (and not re-sticking) after only a couple of months of infrequent use.
The carrying handle is not very effective.
Final opinion: A sturdy ramp at a reasonable price; many ramps are ridiculously expensive. If the non-skid was less painful, this would easily have gotten 4 stars; but the coating is really an issue.

This is a great ramp!
Reviewed in the United States on January 5, 2018This is a great Ramp!
I have two Labradors. My oldest is 14 years old and weighs 79 lbs. My youngest is 4 years old and weighs 84 lbs. My oldest is still very agile for her age but my youngest has knee problems. I bought this ramp for her. She can not jump into my Kia Soul and does not like being lifted in. I did a lot of research when I decided to purchase a ramp. I read every review on every style of ramp listed on Amazon. I'm not exaggerating...it took several days. By the way "My Dog Hated It" isn't a helpful review. Of course your dog hated it. My dogs hated it too until I paid them to like it. (Paid with treats)
So here's some pros, cons and thoughts about this ramp.
Pros
1. Its was the widest one I could find, so my chunky lab with wide set shoulders had plenty of run to walk on it.
2. It was is sturdy enough for both dogs to be on it at the same time. (84lbs + 79lbs = 163 lbs). It looks to be well made and it doesn't bow or flex when they are on it.
3. The ramp is long enough to make the incline to the car reasonable. My youngest lab is not adventurous at all so a steep incline would have been problematic.
4. Its got a side handle for easy carrying.
5. The sand paper like texture provide a nice non-slip surface. I did not find it to be too rough as some had mentioned in their reviews.
Cons
1. Its a bit long when its at its shortest length. It DOES fit into my Kia Soul with the back seats down but it takes up more room then I like. I wished it was a tri-fold.
2. The Sand Paper like texture shows nail scratches easily. It is a dog ramp and not a fashion runway so I should keep that in perspective.
3. It doesn't have a locking mechanism for when it's slid closed. If I were the designer I would have added that. It's not a deal breaker for me but I could see it being for others.
Some additional thoughts..
1. I can't stress enough that most dogs will need to be trained to use it or any ramp. I followed the advise of another reviewer and started with laying it flat on the ground fully extend. I left it out so they could sniff it and get use to it. Then I used treats to get them to walk across it. Once they were OK walk across it, I raised it a couple of inches. Using treats, I had them walk across it some more. Once they were comfortable I raised it again. It took four 30 minute sessions to get them to use it on our back steps. I left it on our back steps for 3 days and then stated training to use it with the car. It worked.
2. It weighs 17lbs. It slides easily when you need to stow it away but it has some weight to it and its a bit awkward. I can lift it in and out of my car without any trouble while holding onto my dogs leashes but I am fairly strong. Also I am use to putting larger heavier items in the back of my car. With that said, I still worked with my dogs on sitting and waiting for me to put it away before getting up and moving around. I didn't want them pulling on their leashes while I am manhandling it into the back of the car.

Best ramp for large dogs!
Reviewed in the United States on April 19, 2021Edited (TWO YEARS LATER)!: Still a great ramp and holding up to my mastiff's constant use!
Edited (one year later): still giving this a 5 star review! Ramp is holding well after daily use getting in and out of a Jeep. Over time I custom added a kayak handle to the opposite side of the manufactur installed handle. I found that because my jeep opens on the right side it just made it easier for me to handle it. Secondly, over time I custom added thin rubber matts that I gorilla glued to the sandpaper pads. The original textile didn't feel good on my pups paws so I had tried carpet. Turns out when it's wet from rain the carpet got slippery. So I upgraded to rubber and no slips! She's ocer 120lbs now and easily uses this ramp everyday! No joint issues and has never flipped it over. Hope this helps!
Original review: This ramp is an upgrade from my last one I purchased nearly a decade ago. It is lightweight, has a handle for easy lifting, and I LOVE the sliding feature vs the fold feature like my previous one. We recently got our new fur baby and I wanted to get her trained asap on using the ramp since she is a mastiff mix and will be too heavy for me to lift. Initially she had no problem going down the ramp, but no matter how much I used treats to entice her, she wouldn't go up. I even tried a slow training method, leaving it on my living room floor and having her walk on it at her leisure. No problem. She would walk all over it. I tried doing a slight incline onto the couch, barely a foot above the ground, no go. She got about one step up, then would back up. I don't think she liked the feel on her paw pads. Anyway, quick trip to home depot, I bought stair carpet runners. (Didn't even know it was a thing but turns out it's perfect)! I grabbed 2 and they have grip on the back that stuck well to the ramp. I don't have to permanently fix it to the ramp, just throw them on and they don't move. So overall, I gave it 5 stars because I love the product, I just had to fine tweak it to suit my puppy's lackluster approach to the nonslip material. She went up, on the first moment I placed the carpet pieces on the ramp, so it's a win!

Great ramp but needs a modification. See update
Reviewed in the United States on August 20, 2017(See 18-month update below)
Pros:
1. VERY lightweight.
2. Very small (compared to other folding/telescoping ramps) when closed up, both in length and especially thickness. I've seen some 3-part folding ramps that look like they .are practically a foot thick when folded. I have a really small car, so this was an important feature.
3. Tall side rails for safety.
4. Built-in handle.
5. Sturdy - very little bounce.
Cons:
1. The biggest problem and the reason I almost returned it: The sandpaper surface is useless. My dog was already used to ramps & she slid right off it. Maybe for a small dog it's okay. My girl weighs 85 pounds.
Like I said, I almost returned it. But because the size & lightness are such good features & the ramps I found that had better surfaces were either way too heavy or only 5 feet long or WAY more expensive, I decided to modify it. I bought some of that grippy stuff that keeps rugs from slipping - it's pretty cushy -- it comes in rolls that are 4 feet long x a foot wide, which exactly covers the gritty part of the ramp. For now I just taped it on (I cut it to individual 2-foot sections) because I wanted her to try it out -- thinking I still might return it -- but she walked on the new surface no problem, & it worked really well. I had been worried that the thickness of the cushion stuff would interfere with the telescoping action, but it is actually fine. So I will probably keep the ramp & might glue it down at some point.
One thing about how I installed the cushy stuff: securing it to the top of each section was of course no problem. To secure it to the bottoms of the top 2 sections, I made some "tabs" out of tape that were about 6 inches long & secured these temporarily to the bottom edge of the cush. I slipped the tabs through the slot between sections & pulled it down that way, then pulled it around & secured it to the back with more tape & cut off the tabs. That worked pretty well.
UPDATE: Dec 31 2018. Well this ramp has held up very, very well. I ended up gluing the grippy stuff down & that worked out fine & doesn't interfere with its function at all, & the dogs like the surface much better. I use it constantly & it has shown no signs of breaking, slipping, chipping, or anything. Still appreciate its small folded size.
It has developed one small problem that I might have predicted, & that is that the snap-strap that keeps it from un-telescoping when it's not in use has broken. It looks like it would be simple enough to replace since it actually screws on. I contacted the company and they told me "We do have replacement snap kits available for $5.99 (USD) plus any applicable shipping and tax. The part number is 69947. To place an order, please reach out to our Customer Care Center at 1-800-732-2677."
So like I said, I've been really happy with this ramp & am glad I bought it. Now I'm equally happy with their customer service. I highly recommend & if anything ever happened to this one (it will have to be stolen, because it's quite tough) I'd buy another one.

Karen5 out of 5 starsThe best doggy ramp
Reviewed in Australia on October 18, 2025Purchased this ramp for an older greyhound. It is an excellent ramp with anti slip surface and my dog has no problem using it, it has been a life changer for both him and me. The quality of this ramp is fabulous, the only thing against it for me would be it's quite heavy but it's worth it for how good it is.

Jose Manuel Espinosa Ruiz5 out of 5 starsEncantados con la rampa
Reviewed in Spain on April 29, 2020Llegó bien y dentro del plazo. La rampa es muy fuerte. Tenemos una labradora y le encanta subir por ella. Es cierto que la superficie anti deslizante es un poco abrasiva pero supongo que así se adhieren mejor las patas del perro. Nosotros estamos encantados con la rampa.
