I’m admittedly partial to Osprey because this was my 3rd I already own two of their packs (46 and 60), I absolutely love. My Porter 46L is my go-to travel bag I’ve taken it everywhere, and it fits a surprising amount of stuff. No airline has ever denied it as a “personal backpack” (even though it’s basically a stealth carry-on!).

The Skarab continues that same quality and thoughtfulness. It’s perfect for day hikes—lightweight but durable, super comfortable with breathable straps, and the included Hydraulics reservoir is easy to fill, drink from, and clean. The storage is just right for snacks, an extra layer, and essentials without being overbuilt.

If you love your Osprey travel or urban packs, you’ll appreciate the same attention to detail in the Skarab. It’s become my go-to for local hikes and bike rides.

This is a great versatile backpack. It also comes with a bonus of a water/hydration bladder when purchasing. I thought it was just set up to accept one, but it includes a high-quality bladder made by osprey.

Have used this on a number of day hikes and more challenging hikes, including Mount Washington, and the four states challenge. It’s just the right size to fit in a jacket snacks water, and some other supplies just sustain you over about 24 hours.

The ventilated back is fantastic, especially on hot days and the stowable hip belt is also very convenient especially when you’re putting heavier equipment in your bag and the pockets on the belt are really convenient for energy chews other snack or small gear. Although it’s a little bit pricey I would recommend it to anyone doing fair amount of outdoor activities.

As a hiker (backpacker, in the woods, not Europe), I have found Osprey to be the most durable, comfortable and quality manufacturer. I had a hydration system in the past, and I hated it. Recently, I had to get one for my job, so I went with Osprey and I am very happy that I did! Renewed my faith in bite-valve hydration. The magnetic tube attachment is very innovative. You buy it!

Love this backpack. Me and my partner got these for our day hike up Mount Katahdin and it was perfect.

I bought this pack for my 14yo boy. It fit well and was very comfortable for him. The bladder system on the Osprey is great. This is the 3rd Osprey pack that I have purchased for the family and all of them have worked well.
