Game-Changer for Off-Grid Comfort!

Game-Changer for Off-Grid Comfort!
I was initially skeptical about a portable water heater, but the GASLAND BE158 completely blew away my expectations. This unit isn't just "okay" for camping; it delivers a genuinely luxurious hot water experience, making it feel like you brought your home bathroom with you. Unbelievably Easy Setup From the moment I unboxed it, the setup was a breeze. Everything you need is included (minus the propane tank and water supply, of course). Connecting the gas, water inlet, and shower head took maybe 10 minutes, max. The clear instructions made the initial prime and startup simple. Within seconds of turning it on and letting the water run, I had hot water—and I mean HOT water! Performance is Flawless The temperature control is incredibly effective. Even on a chilly morning, I was able to dial in a perfect, consistent temperature for a shower. The 1.58 GPM (Gallons Per Minute) flow rate is more than adequate for a comfortable, strong spray. We use it primarily for washing off after dusty ATV rides and for general camp cleaning, and it has handled everything flawlessly. The built-in safety features also provide great peace of mind. The Best Value for Off-Grid Living If you have a cabin, an RV, a campsite, or just need hot water out in the yard (it’s fantastic for washing pets!), the GASLAND BE158 is an absolute must-buy. It’s compact enough to transport easily, built with durable materials, and the efficiency of the propane use is excellent. Stop suffering through cold showers or boiling endless pots of water—invest in the BE158. It's truly a 5-star piece of equipment that provides comfort and convenience wherever you need it.

Though we are keeping it for emergency use only, I set it up to test it. I wanted to see how well it worked, so if we needed it, I knew it functioned. We have on demand propane water heater for the house we built ten years ago, and I always worry that it will break and it might take weeks to get a plumber to replace it at a reasonable price. I found this unit and spent the smaller amount of money so we'd have hot showers until the unit gets replaced. Almost everything in the house, we use cold water. We live in Hawaii and have an outdoor shower, so it is easy for us to hang it and use it. We also have the option of adding hose to the shower head and threading it through a window to use our inside shower. I am also thinking about splicing into the water line to our indoor shower with a valve so we can use it that way. My wife is a bit of a prepper, so she likes having options.

the unit works well. Hook up a propane source, a water source, and put a couple of batteries in the unit. Turn on the tap and a few seconds later you have a hot shower. There were no leaks, externally or internally. All of the adapters you might need for connections are in the box. I would not call it very portable, because it is a bit bulky and you have to carry all of the hoses and the propane tank. For our emergency plan, this will work very well.

Background: I purchased this item as a backup in case the power is out or gas is shut off. I also thought it'd be helpful for camping, home renovations, washing vehicles, and pets, etc.

Setup: Gasland is a good vendor and gives you everything you need. All items are included except for the two D batteries. The unit has many mounting holes available and they include some drywall and masonry anchors too. Similar to other people on here I installed mine onto a hand truck so I'd be able to move it around easily. First I connected the propane hose, carefully using two wrenches as instructed to avoid rotating the pre-attached brass gas line adapter. Then I inserted the rubber washer into the garden hose adapter and tightened and attached my garden hose. They included two adapters so you can use either side of the garden hose (male or female). I didn't have any issues with leaks and found the threads/fittings to seal up okay without needing any Teflon tape (included also!). I was careful to support the connections while I tightened them.

Operation: It turns on automatically once the water is flowing so you can set it to the desired temperature and not worry about having to shut it off. There's a left dial for the gas volume, a middle dial for the number of burners (summer/winter), and a right dial for the water flow. The display shows the current temperature in Celcius. I found the best results with the summer mode, water at the lowest setting and gas adjusted until the temp became 40-45C. It has the capacity to go significantly hotter, it is barely turned up to 1/3 on the gas right now.

Conclusion: It works really well, to say the least. The temperature is very stable and it does not consume much propane while it is running. Once set, it doesn't need additional adjustments. I am impressed, especially for the price. The showerhead itself is also good, creating a nice misty stream, and the built-in valve is convenient to control the water. I had an issue with the provided chrome shower hose leaking, but Gasland was able to take care of it quickly. If you plan on using the provided shower hose, keep in mind it may need to be replaced eventually. I ended up replacing the hose with standard 3/8 OD polyethylene and some of the parts off of the old hose. One thing I didn't know is that the top does not fit a standard 4" flue pipe, so effective exhaust gas removal is not easy. Make sure it runs outside and avoid standing close to the gases. Otherwise, this is a great product for the price!

We use this as an outdoor shower next to our pool and it’s been awesome. It was easy to set up and fires right up every time. After mowing the lawn or spending time outside in the heat, being able to rinse off with an actual hot shower is a game changer.

The water heats up quickly and stays consistent, and I love not having to wait or deal with a bulky tank. It’s been reliable so far and does exactly what we bought it for.

If you’re looking for a simple outdoor shower solution — especially for pool use or post-yard work cleanup — this thing is totally worth it. Would buy again without hesitation.

The thermostat is a very nice feature, allowing me to dial the right temperature. The water output must be at the lowest setting and the gas level must be at the highest for the temperature to rise quickly. But once the water output is increased, the temperature drops quickly. I am having to constantly adjust the water output. Also, wishing that the shower line is longer.

The heater worked great for about a month. Now I have to turn the water pressure to the absolute lowest setting just to get the temp to 100F. When I turn the water pressure up to anything useful for a shower the temp won't get above 84 degrees. Also, the middle dial does absolutely nothing and is actually backwards(the last month ir so we have 100+ degree days so you assume you should use the knob turned to the sun but that won't hear the water at all so I have to turn it to the snowflake which should be for when it's cold outside but the inlet water is easily 75 degrees but I still have to have it on the snowflake). So yeah, this heater is totally useless unless you want 15psi or 80 degree water(neither is useful for showering). Very unhappy with this purchase I can no longer return smh

Not sure what others are complaining about. We use this a lot outside. We are off grid at a site temporarily. So I made a shower out of pallets and use this for hot water. The water comes from a tank that sits outside. Even in 40 degree weather this heater will get the water hot enough for a warm shower. In the summer when the water in the tank isn’t fridgid this will make the water hot enough to scald you. I have a big 12 volt pump too. Would buy again. Works great.

    Great customer service.

The unit had a crack in the cast metal portion.

Contacted customer service about the leak and they are currently sending a brand new unit to replace the broken unit.

Installation is easy as can be. Hookups are easy to install.

The water and temperature is easy to control and gives us optimal temperatures when showering.

I will update on the how the replacement comes in for the warranty! So far so good on the customer care team.

We like this product very, very much. We have a cottage on a northern lake and whether we use lake water or the well, the water is rarely above 70°F or about 21°C. It is also a nearly off-grid cottage and can be off-grid several times a year due to storms. Thus, the ability to use it with a regular propane tank is terrific. We have consistently hot water around 42°C (as shown on the indicator, which is an asset) or about 108°F. The temperature is easy to adjust as is the flow. As you can see from the set-up, we've used a bicycle hanger to hold the unit while in use. This keeps it clear from the side of the boathouse and the roof. The exhaust is surprisingly cool. The fittings were easy to attach and we've had no trouble using Gardena quick connects with it. All of the necessary adapters were in the box and 2 wrenches were included. These are a good thing because you definitely never want to over-tighten. The regulator always works and the starting sequence is easy enough. Just remember to follow the directions and listen for the click of the sparker unit. We have had one set of Energizer D-Cells last for 2 full seasons and I've used a AA-cell replacement adapter with no alteration in function. I use a 5 micron water filter (unseen) between the pump and the water heater. The unit is easy to drain and the handy drain plug is a nice touch. Now we can rinse off with virtually limitless hot water. We could not be happier. 5 stars all around. Highly recommend.

Tankless Water Heater, Gasland BE158 1.58GPM 6L Outdoor Portable Gas Water Heater, Instant Propane Water Heater, Overheating Protection, Easy to Install, Use for RV Cabin Barn Camping Boat

I bought this 5 l propane gas water heater to use in the backyard of my house.

I wanted a quick way to have hot water in order to quickly rinse off people and especially my dog after a swim in the pool.

After I swim I like to soap off and shower my dog outside so that he can dry off quickly outdoors.. this small gas heater does a fantastic job at that specific task. It comes with a 3/4 or 1/2 in adapter for your garden hose and a fairly standard certified gas hose for your propane tank. It does come with a braided hose for your shower head that is also included however I highly recommend purchasing a much longer shower hose which is pretty standard .... It's the same shower hose you would put in your bathtub. And also I recommend getting a metal proper heavy duty shower wand . The one that's included with this product is rather cheap and plastic. The hose is really short as well.

Quick tip is that you actually need to install the garden hose and have water going into the system in order for the propane to kick in and ignite. Otherwise it doesn't work. The ignitor is pretty quick and it uses two D cell batteries not included with the product.

In terms of heat, it gets warm enough for a really nice shower outdoors for humans and even for a dog. That said it actually depends on the temperature of your garden hose water. If you are using this in the summer then I think you will have no issues getting the water hot enough for a decent shower however if you were attempting to use this in the winter I'm not sure that this will get hot enough. There is a dial for winter mode or summer mode but I highly recommend just switching it to winter mode permanently because it regulates the max heat of the water. Quite frankly I think any adult can figure out how to regulate the cold versus warm water mixed

There is some precautionary warnings here because when the unit is functioning there is hot air exhausted at the top of the heater. But that is fairly obvious when you feel heat as the unit is functioning. Obviously you do not want children putting their hand or head near that exhaust.

So far so good. Single tank is ready to last 16 to 20 hours of heated water but obviously that depends on how hot you use the duration and output adjusted by you.

I'm extremely happy with product. I hope that this will last more than a few seasons functioning. I plan to store this in my insulated shed in the winter and only bring it out when it's pool season in the summer. Hopefully with that fish should last quite a long time.

    I hope this helps.

Terrible. Got it hooked up all perfect for my camp. Pressure was terrible. Could not return because it was too late. Now, a couple months a maybe a dozen uses later - with terrible pressure- it doesn’t even work at all. All pressure completely gone. Doesn’t stay at good temperature. All around rip off.

Our hot water heater went unexpectedly just before the long weekend. We were told it would be at least 6 days before a new one could be put in. I ordered this and received it within a day. My husband (who's very handy) constructed a outdoor shower stall. That evening we were all able to have hot showers. It's very easy to assemble and heats up very quickly. The video made it even easier. Now we use it regularly. I'm a gardener so it's great to do that quick clean up outside. Great for washing the dog as well. I would recommend this product.

We have an off-grid cabin, it has a kitchen sink, bathroom sink and shower. We have a submersible well pump that feeds a pressure tank with clear water and the pressure switch operates at 20 to 40 PSI. The setting knobs are at winter (input water temp. is still quite cold at this time), burner knob a bit past halfway and the water flow set at minimal.

The water heater heats the water great while it's operating but unfortunately it keeps stopping and restarting after a small time lag which makes showering a real adventure.

We just got it but there's a high probability that it will be returned.
