Love the endless hot water!
Reviewed in the United States on June 9, 2026The tank works great! We don't run out of hot water. I had someone to install it for me & wish it came w a door but ordered it separately. The degree setting is located underneath my camper in a storage space but once you set the temp you shouldn't need to adjust it anymore. Occasionally I'll have to add cold water since it's too hot but not often & usually it takes only a few seconds to become hot.

Reviewed in the United States on May 6, 2026Color: Frost WhiteVine Customer Review of Free ProductSwitched our water heater to this tankless heater. We did keep the original water heater in case we hated the tankless. We have had a bunch of people tell us they didn’t like the switch and it wasn’t worth it. So far; we are okay with it.
The pro’s:
1 ) we can take longer showers.
2 ) we no longer have to wait for the “water to heat back up” for the next person to shower.
3 ) it doesn’t make that loud noise from the pump that our original made. So if we are next to someone in a quiet rv park; it is not disturbing.
4 ) it fit in the space where our original once was.
5 ) it would be a simple replacement if you already have a tankless heater in your rv
6 ) the high altitude feature was a huge selling point because of our environment.
7 ) it was competitive to others with btu, gpm and costs. Making it a money saver in that sense.
8 ) after it is initially used for the day, the heating speed is relatively fast compared to our original tank heater.
9 ) we haven’t had it installed for very long; or used it very much yet, but it seems to be pretty reliable, or at least as reliable as our original heater.
The cons:
1 ) it cost us over $700 to have it installed by our camper service center. (So, I recommend, before you buy; find out the costs of install first)
2 ) we still had to purchase a few parts from our service center when we had it installed to make the switch from our tank heater to the tankless compatible with our camper.
3 ) it can take it a few minutes for hot water to reach the shower or sinks. (Every first use when it’s been more than 10-15 minutes since we used it last)
4 ) the amount of time it took to install. It wasn’t an easy job, so it took a while and then had to wait on the additional parts to make it compatible with our camper.
5 ) it’s bigger than we thought it would be.

Quality is very good
Reviewed in the United States on May 24, 2026Color: Frost WhiteVine Customer Review of Free ProductThis RV Tankless Water Heater delivers on demand hot water without the wait or waste of a traditional
tank. At 55,000 BTU and 2.9 GPM, it provides enough flow for a real shower, dishes, or both in sequence
no more timing showers or running out halfway through shampoo. It runs on 12V DC, so it ties right into
your RV’s power system and fires up instantly when you open the tap. The big win for travelers is high
altitude readiness up to 9,800ft. Many tankless heaters struggle or fail in the mountains, but this unit is
calibrated to maintain performance when air is thin, making it reliable for Colorado, the Sierras, or any
high elevation campsite. CSA certified means it meets North American safety standards, and the tankless
design saves propane plus space over bulky 6 10 gallon tanks.
For RVs and campers, endless hot water changes the whole experience. You get consistent temps
without the cold sandwich effect, and you’re only heating water you actually use, which stretches
propane and cuts energy waste. The 2.9 GPM flow covers most RV shower heads comfortably, and the
compact unit frees up a storage bay. Install does need proper venting, gas line, and water connections,
so plan for a pro if you’re not handy. Once it’s in, maintenance is simple with annual descaling in hard
water areas. If you camp off grid, travel high, or just want real showers on the road, this heater solves
the biggest comfort complaint in RVs.
RV tankless water heater, on demand instant hot water
55,000 BTU, 12V DC
High altitude ready up to 9,800ft
Endless hot water, energy, propane saving, space saving, reliable at elevation
Overall quality is very good, reliable, endless hot water for RVs even in the mountains saves space,
propane, and eliminates cold showers on the road.

Decent RV Tankless Heater, Read Some Reviews First
Reviewed in the United States on May 29, 2026Color: Snow WhiteVine Customer Review of Free ProductThis is a decent tankless water heater. It installed without too much trouble and fit in place of the standard 6-gallon heater in our camper. It does have a lot of the problems people often quote with RV tankless heaters, though. The water flow isn't as good as the old water heater. Likely due to it being limited to what the tankless design can keep up with heating. It also doesn't get water quite as hot as the original water heater. Not usually a big issue, but it did take some getting used to. Overall, though, it functions as well as most tankless heaters. And it definitely costs less than some of the more popular name brands. I can't really speak to long-term durability yet as its only been used on one trip, though.

Luxury upgrade!
Reviewed in the United States on May 4, 2026Color: Frost WhiteVine Customer Review of Free ProductUpgrading to a tankless system in a rig is one of those projects that is so worth it once it’s done. The Gidrox 66,000 BTU Tankless Water Heater is a high-output beast—66k BTUs is about as much punch as you can get for an RV, and you really feel it in the water temperature. Unlike the older 42k or 50k models that struggle when the incoming groundwater is icy, this unit holds its own. The 3.9 GPM flow rate is impressive on paper, though in the real world of RV plumbing, you're more likely to see a steady, comfortable stream that doesn't quit halfway through a shower. The "endless" factor means no more 20-minute waits between people (or tactical dishwashing).
Installation is not so bad if you’re replacing an old 6-gallon tank. It’s designed to fit standard 13"x13" openings, so for us it was a "slide-in and go" situation. The gas and water connections come with O-rings pre-installed, which saves a trip to the hardware store. NOte: While it’s advertised as having multiple door sizes, ours didn't ship with a cover. You’ll want to double-check your order or be prepared to source a compatible door separately. Also, keep an eye on the 12V DC wiring; the draw is minimal, but we found we needed a really solid connection to ensure the ignition fires every time without throwing an error code.
As for functionality, the digital remote is a game-changer for setting a precise temp (like between 95°F and 123°F). Set the heater to your desired shower temp and run the hot tap solo and watch out for that first blast of cold cold water. Regarding leakage, the build quality feels solid (has a CSA certification), but like any tankless unit, it is extremely sensitive to mineral buildup. For the price, the value for money is high, especially if you do a lot of high-altitude camping, as this unit is tuned to work up to 9,800 feet without starving for oxygen.

Good quality tankless system
Reviewed in the United States on April 11, 2026Color: Snow WhiteVine Customer Review of Free ProductThis 55000 BTU RV Tankless water heater provides unlimited hot water in your RV. Installation was pretty simple once you figure out how to remove your existing hot water tank as this fits in the same cavity in your RV. With this tankless hot water heater, just like a tank hot water heater, it uses propane burners to heat the water. When you request hot water by turning on the hot water faucet, water flows immediately and the burner activates immediately to heat up the water going through the line. It only takes a few seconds to heat up the water to 120 degrees and it will provide that hot water until the water stops flowing or you run out of propane in your tank or your holding tank becomes full! Essentially if you are hooked up to water and sewer, you could take hours long showers if you wanted without ever running out of hot water!! There is a basic flaw with an on demand hot water system though. Since the water takes about 3 seconds to heat from cold to 120 degrees, it takes that much longer than a tank hot water system to get the hot water at the faucet or shower. That's not a problem when using the shower because of the constant flow, however when I'm doing the dishes and 30 seconds might go buy between requesting hot water, it sends 3 seconds worth of cold water through the line until the hot water arrives. You don't have that issue with a tank water heater since the water comes from the system at 120 degrees instantly (since it was already heated and ready in the tank). This really is the only con with this type of system. The pros are this uses less propane since it is only using propane when you request the hot water and the other pro is you never run out of hot water. Hopefully this helps you decide which hot water system is better for your needs. This unit seems to be well constructed and durable with a decent warranty and customer support so if this is the route you go, this Gidrox product should provide years of reliable use.

Works great for my off-grid cabin, not just RVs
Reviewed in the United States on April 19, 2026Color: Frost WhiteVine Customer Review of Free ProductI installed this in my small off-grid building and couldn't be happier with how it's performed. If you're considering this for a similar application, don't let the "RV" label put you off — with a little planning it works beautifully in a fixed structure.
Installation was straightforward. I mounted it through an exterior wall for venting, wired it into my solar panel setup, and had hot water running the same day. The 12V DC draw is minimal, so it plays very nicely with a solar and battery bank system — no grid power needed whatsoever.
Once it's running, the performance is impressive. Hot water in just a few seconds, consistent temperature, and no waiting around for a tank to recover. For a single-person or small household setup, 2.9 GPM is plenty.
One thing worth noting — this unit does not come with a door/cover panel. For an RV install that would be more of an issue, but for my wall-mounted application I wasn't too concerned about it. That said, compatible doors are easy to find online at a very reasonable price, so it's not a dealbreaker either way.
**A word of caution for anyone considering this for a permanent structure:** this is my personal off-grid setup and I'm not subject to inspections, but it's worth knowing that even though this unit is CSA certified, that certification applies to RV use — not residential fixed installation. If your building is subject to permits or insurance inspections, an inspector could potentially flag it for that reason. In many rural off-grid situations it's a complete non-issue practically speaking, but it's something to be aware of going in so there are no surprises down the road.
Overall, solid build quality, energy efficient, and a great fit for anyone looking to get reliable on-demand hot water in an off-grid setup. Highly recommend for cabins, tiny homes, or any small building running on solar.

Very Well Made!
Reviewed in the United States on May 14, 2026Color: Snow WhiteVine Customer Review of Free ProductThis Gidrox 55,000 BTU RV tankless water heater is a budget “direct replacement” style propane on-demand unit for RVs and campers, designed to replace older tank heaters with continuous hot water capability.
It’s a typical mid-tier Amazon RV tankless heater: strong heating performance and modern features on paper, but long-term reliability and consistency depend heavily on installation quality and build variance.
Strengths
55,000 BTU output / ~2.9–3.9 GPM class performance → enough for normal RV shower use without quickly running cold
12V DC powered ignition and controls → standard RV compatibility
High-altitude support (up to ~9,800 ft claim) → useful for mountain camping setups
On-demand heating eliminates recovery wait times typical of tank heaters
Includes modern protections (freeze, flame-out, dry-burn, fan failure) typical of newer RV units
Energy efficient in use since it only burns propane when water is flowing
Weak points
Generic OEM-level build quality → internal burner, heat exchanger, and electronics consistency varies by batch
Temperature stability can hunt or fluctuate with changing flow rates, especially in cold inlet water conditions (common across budget tankless RV units)
Requires proper gas pressure, venting, and 12V supply stability or performance drops noticeably
More sensitive to hard water scale buildup than tank heaters
Service support and parts availability are limited compared to brands like Girard, Suburban, or Furrion
Bottom line
A capable budget tankless RV upgrade that delivers strong “instant hot water” performance when everything is set up correctly. It works best for campers and occasional RV use, but it doesn’t have the long-term robustness, temperature consistency, or service ecosystem of higher-end OEM RV water heater brands.

Amazon customer5 out of 5 starsGood and efficient water heater
Reviewed in Canada on June 7, 2026Vine Customer Review of Free ProductI chose this Gidrox 55000 BTU RV tankless water heater because I wanted a reliable and high-output thermal utility solution to maintain a perfectly efficient and comfortable on-demand plumbing layout. This specialized mobile climate accessory features an advanced 55,000 BTU burner configuration paired with a 12V DC power architecture, an integrated digital wall controller, and specialized high-altitude modulation software, offering an effortless transition from heavy, limited-capacity storage tanks to a completely continuous, endless hot water delivery network. I use it to solve the problem of running out of hot water halfway through a family cleaning cycle and the common frustration of standard gas burners choking out or failing to ignite when camping at elevated mountainous trail regions, as the rapid-heating copper exchanger core, automated freeze-protection loops, and precise temperature microprocessor monitoring ensure a seamless utility experience and constant thermal control.
For example, while finishing a reorganization of some high-capacity travel setup and exterior trailer plumbing gear yesterday afternoon, the intuitive configuration of the outer flange frame allowed for checking the mounting chassis alignment against a standard 13-by-13 inch side-wall cutout template with total precision, and the high-quality finish maintained a tight, perfectly flush stance that stood up to a firm manual downward check without any shifting or loose wobbling. The rugged industrial appearance with a professional dark outer access panel profile, high-quality durable hardware components completely resistant to internal burner gas valve sticking from fluctuating supply line pressures, digital data line disruption from severe vehicle chassis road vibrations, and heat exchanger cracking during sudden overnight freezing dips for long-term daily transit reliability, and the convenience of its comprehensive CSA-certified safety parameters make it a practical solution for anyone seeking an easy way to modernize mobile living plumbing comfort and improve overall utility compartment layout efficiency.

Reviewed in Canada on June 6, 2026Vine Customer Review of Free ProductWhen I received this unit I noticed that two of the cardboard supports had dislodged and made their way into the inside side areas and I was a bit concerned that they may have jostled free something or hit and damaged something but everything seemed fine after a close but annoyingly uncomfortable to perform examination. I hope that they can fix that issue and ensure they remain in place for future units. After that, installation went well and operation has been smooth. Hot water has been a world of difference for my old RV that I purchased with a inoperable unit. It fit well in the space that the old unit occupied and wiring and hookup weren't too hard. I also have the door that matches this unit, as the old one didn't work out. It fits well.

Customer Review5 out of 5 starsRapid heating for my road trips
Reviewed in Canada on June 9, 2026Vine Customer Review of Free ProductAfter 4 days of using this RV tankless water heater, the 55000 BTU output has been highly effective at delivering consistent hot water on demand. The built-in 500ml thermostatic chamber keeps the output steady even when multiple taps are running, and it functions reliably at high elevations. It includes automatic freeze protection to safeguard the internal plumbing during chilly mountain nights. One minor physical trait is the sensitivity of the pressure valve. Because it is designed to manage a high flow rate of 2.9 GPM, a sudden dip in your campsite's water pressure can cause the heater to cycle off briefly, so keeping your RV pump turned on helps maintain an even flow.
