Great hitch!
Reviewed in the United States on January 9, 2020I usually don’t write reviews, but I felt compelled to write my personal experience for people interested in a combined weight distribution/sway control hitch for mild to moderate recreational use. I had originally purchased a husky trunnion style weight distribution hitch with a friction sway control attachment. It worked okay and did its job; however setup was a pain cause the hitch weight at least 90 lbs, and you were limited in terms of turn radius, so once you’re off the highway or needing to back up, the sway control arm had to be disconnected to prevent braking it. On the highway, that was still Some slight sway when semi’s drove by but most significantly if I were behind a semi truck. Now safety is always my utmost concern, so I had been constantly looking for a system that may help me in gaining better control of my vehicle and trailer. So, when I learned about the Anderson hitch, I researched the crap out of it before deciding to purchase it. A little bit about my use of the hitch: I have a 2013 F-150 that I use to haul a 29’ travel trailer dry weight of 6100. The first trip I used the hitch on was a 430 mile trip north from North Carolina to Maryland. The entire drive up, we had no issues with cross winds or passing vehicles causing sway. We got stuck behind quite a few semi’s, and as anyone who hauls knows the draft from the semi trucks can cause some significant sway when you’re following behind; however not once did I feel that I needed to move out from behind the semi trucks due to sway. In regards to the hook up and leveling; it is made super easy once you have It installed per the instructions. Adjustments are made easily by tensioning the nuts on the chain till you achieve a minimum of 1/4” compression of the red springs or till you’re truck and trailer are level. There is no need to take it off when backing up, and you can make tight turns if needed because the system is all connected to the hitch and ball assembly. Best part is it weights no more than 40 lbs making removal easy. The light design also helps reduce your payload allowing you to carry more cargo in your vehicle. In all, I am very happy I switched over to the Anderson hitch and hope others enjoy the same experience I have.

Excellent Product, Exceptional Customer Service.
Reviewed in the United States on June 2, 2021Tow Vehicle is a 2016 f-150 with a 5.5ft bed(super short tow vehicle). Trailer is a 2021 Keystone hideout 21BHWE for reference. I pulled the trailer a handful of times prior to buying the WD hitch and the sway wasn’t bad at all if the wind wasn’t blowing. If a moderate breeze picked up the sway was basically out of control to run the speed limit. (Living in Idaho you’ll be extremely lucky if the wind isn’t blowing, so I decided to but a WD anti-sway hitch.)
I did a lot of research comparing brands and styles and their corresponding prices. I looked at several of the torsion bar styles but always ended up coming back to this hitch. Through reading all the reviews on this company and their hitch I’d decided that based on their customer support reviews alone I’d be going with them. I placed my order through Mr. Bezos’ Monopoly as we have a prime account and it was going to save me $20.
Ten days later plus or minus it arrived at my house. I immediately opened it up and began to assemble it to the trailer and pickup. The directions were very thorough and pretty easy to follow. They want you to mount the trailer brackets between 28-29 inches back from the center of the ball so I shot for the middle at 28.5 inches. After completion of assembly and coupling the pickup and trailer it seemed like I should have mounted it closer to the 29 inch mark as I was nearly out of adjustment after tightening down the chain nuts adjustment.
I’ll add in here that when I received the package it did not come with the pin that holds the triangle to the base of the ball. I emailed Andersen customer support that night and had an answer that night. The only question they asked me was, “what is a good address for you?” To send me the pin. Fast forward to today, about a week after I emailed them about the missing pin, and a package arrived at My house containing not one but two of the pins that I had initially not received.
The hitch has instilled a newfound confidence in me when pulling the trailer in a decent wind(10-15mph) at highway speeds. Seems to be working very well I’m terms of anti sway and in terms of the herky jerky bounce going down the road.
Customer service is excellent and I won’t be buying a different WD from anyone else so long as they’re in business.
I will update if anything changes.
Buy it, you’ll be glad you did!

Easy installation and works well
Reviewed in the United States on June 17, 2024I have a smaller Forest River toy hauler that I use to take my Harley along when I like. After much research I decided to get the Andersen load distribution hitch for these reasons: relatively light weight, ease of installation and it’s American made. It took less than an hour to install it and just a few minutes to adjust. I went to the Smoky Mountains right after I installed it - about a 420 mile trip from home. I appreciate how it kept the trailer level under all conditions and really eliminated sway and bounce. It’s also much quieter than the others and a cinch to remove from the receiving hitch after arrival. I even got a little better gas mileage with it! I’ve since taken a couple shorter trips as well. So far very satisfied.

Much better than the bars!
Reviewed in the United States on August 7, 2024Upgraded from the round bar style W.D. hitch (the square bars will have the same drawbacks). We've had this hitch for about a year - including several months of nomadic use - and we still love it. This hitch is so easy to use - and no more bars to fool with. also much quieter because it doesn't have bars to make horrible creaking sounds as you slowly roll through the campground or maneuver into and out of your site. It's even better going over sharp rises (like raised railroad tracks) or dips - even while turning. (We dropped a bar one time with the previous hitch). I don't even use the tool to tighten or loosen the chains. I just use the power tongue jack to raise the trailer enough to take the tension off the chains, then loosen or tighten the nuts by hand. Super easy. and still no corrosion on the aluminum parts. very little maintenance - just clean off the road dust occasionally and spray with WD-40. We are very happy with this product!
Pros: good sway control; easy to use; quiet; doesn't corrode
Cons: must connect/disconnect with truck and trailer in alignment (not really an issue)
Notes:
This hitch doesn't stop porpoising, but keeping weight over the trailer and truck axles helps (less weight on the hitch and tongue).
As with any hitch, keep weight over, or in front of, the trailer axles to eliminate uncontrolled sway.

An simple but elegant solution
Reviewed in the United States on January 23, 2022I was looking all over the place, reading reviews for other load balancing anti-sway anti-bounce hitches. I came across this hitch in my research and from some of the earlier reviews, I was a bit worried. I think they must have updated their design, because I have not encountered any issues yet that some of the early reviewers talk about. I am pulling a 9,200 (gross dry weight 8,140) pound Arctic Fox 29L travel trailer with my 2011 Nissan Titan SV. Full disclosure: I do have after-market Air Lift air bags installed and they help too. I weighed the camper at a truck stop and discovered that the load is nicely balanced so that my truck and camper are both within their capacity by every measure. That was reassuring. But I already knew that this hitch makes towing a much more stress-free experience. The trailer feels like an extension of the truck. When you go over bumps, get passed by semi trailers, drive in high winds and go over frost heaves, you expect things to get a bit dicey, but I was shocked at how little drama there was. It's kind of hard to explain, but what I noticed is that it was like there were shock absorbers mounted in every direction. The motion is dampened and stopped - not just the swaying, but also the up-and-down motion. And, of course, it is super awesome that you don't have to unhook in order to back up the camper. And I installed these things myself. It took some time and careful measurement, but with the included directions, it was very possible and saved me a ton of money. I can recommend the Andersen Hitch without reservation.

Compact light WDH that works
Reviewed in the United States on June 19, 2018Just finished a 2,800 mile round trip shake down trip with this hitch. The hitch does what it is supposed to do - controls sway great and does distribute some weight to the front axle. Overall I really like the hitch and would recommend but I cannot give it 5 stars due to some minor issues I did run into.
We upgraded from a 22' expandable to a 28' hardside, we had a 600/6000 equalizer hitch for the expandable that was just not working on the new hardside, it think we were too close if not slightly exceeding the capacity of the equalizer and it just was not giving me the sway control I was used to. It was more $ but decided to try the Anderson hitch vs getting higher capacity equalizer because it seemed easier to use and hook up.
Initial set up was a little wonky, biggest issue is the plate has to be square to the trailer, since the ball with the pin hole was not square to the hitch from the factory I had to try and figure out the angle and back the vehicle in accordingly. To me it is just dumb/laziness on Anderson's part to not be able to figure out a way to set the plate to be square to the hitch at the factory. Watch the Anderson setup video on youtube if you wonder what I am trying to refer to here. Once the angle was figured out the rest of the install was pretty straight forward/easy.
Some other of the nit picky stuff that prevents me from giving the fifth star. In the set up video Anderson says once you set the nut behind the busing it does not need to be adjusted to remove the unit, use your tongue jack to lift the truck and trailer when coupled together then remove the pin under the ball. Problem I had when lift the truck and trailer the ball lifts out of the cone ever so slightly that was enough to bind the pin against the hitch. Same goes for the install, when truck and trailer are lifted, the holes for the plate and bottom of the ball cannot be aligned to get the pin in. In the video Anderson describes the mark on the provided socket for counting turns, my socket had no marks on it. When I open the box there was some surface rust already forming on the welds, ie they did not paint that well in the corners. Also after 2,800 miles the friction material between the hitch and ball has started to compress out out and tear. For now it is no issue but does make be question how well they were compressed together at the factory and how long it will last.
Overall its a great hitch, did exactly what I needed it to do and easier to hook up and unhook than the equalizer. Plus (and this is a big plus) the hitch head is small enough to leave hooked to the back of the truck when uncoupled from the trailer vs removing the big awkward equalizer hitch head.

Functional WDH that is light and affordable.
Reviewed in the United States on January 27, 2026We use it with our F150 pulling a Lance 1985 travel trailer. It adds stability with minimal adjustment. After setting the tension, you don't know it's there. Quite in use. It's nice that it is not as heavy as most WDH.

Mr. Sujano5 out of 5 starsBest WD/Anti Sway Hitch I've used
Reviewed in Canada on January 5, 2025Towing specs: '22 GMC Canyon diesel (1300 lb payload, 7,500 lb max tow)
Trailer: Imagine AIM 16ML (20ft, 412 lb hitch weight, 4795 GVWR(
Bought this to replace my Equalizer WD hitch as it didn't have enough rise for my new trailer. Old trailer sat lower to the ground and had a GVWR of 3875 lbs.
Compared to the Equalizer, the Andersen beats it in almost all aspects. There is less front to back motion over bumps, it seems to sway less, it doesn't require any sort of grease, it's quiet, it's light, it's built well and it is very easy to adjust.
With my old Equalizer, I'd feel the trailer bouncing over bumps and swaying a bit in higher winds, or when passing a semi truck. The Andersen seems to do a better job in both aspects.
What really sold me on the Andersen initially was how easy it seemed to set up and use. Initial setup took a bit of tinkering to get things just right, but it's extremely easy to make adjustments with the bolts at any time. Hitching and unhitching is extremely easy, and it's very quiet compared to the squeaky bars on the Equalizer.
Overall, I'm a big fan of the Anderson hitch and think it's a good value for the money.

Dale US5 out of 5 starsGreat Hitch
Reviewed in Canada on May 7, 2019I had a husky hitch installed on my 2017 TT and found I was having sway issues. Options were to add the sway bar to that WDH or to look at all in one WDH and anti-sway. After much research I settled on the Andersen Hitch and have not regretted it. AdmittedlyI did have some issues with the install, I could not get the brackets to stay in place and as I towed, they would slide forward and cause me to lose the WD. I read about others having this issue and saw many talking about welding the plates on and I did not want to take this step. I had a feeling my issue was the bottom bolts were in the wrong place. The Andersen had holes at 5", but my trailer would not let the bolt go through (although appearing like it should), the problem with the 6" hole was the sliding. I reached out to Andersen because if I used a smaller bolt I could use the 5" hole and knew the sliding would stop. I talked to Jared who was fantastic and said my solution would solve the issue, he gave me recommendations on the bolt strength to ensure safety and I bought them at local hardware store. Issue of sliding brackets was fixed.
The hitch was much quieter then my old hitch and drive with the trailer was nice. 95% of my sway issues disappeared. We drove down the Oregon coast and from Vancouver BC to Yellowstone. Only issue we had was on our second last day on the I90 we had strong gusting winds near the gorge. I could feel the trailer trying to move and the hitch continuously brought it under control. Overall I love the drive with the hitch and feel much safer.
We have now been using for a season and just started out with our 1st trip in our second season, While the hitch continued to work great, it did start making a loud noise. I reached back out to Jared and within an hour he had the replacement part in transit to my house to arrive a couple days later. The customer service from Andersen has just been outstanding. issues can happen and I rate companies on how they deal, Andersen gets an A+++

John Perreault5 out of 5 starsAll 'Rond Great Product !
Reviewed in Canada on August 30, 2018I'm so impressed with my first WDH, an Andersen 3361 kit. The install easy and straightforward. A 12Kkm transcontinental road trip west and back with my road kit, 6m, 2.5 tone, TT, diesel SUV, was a "smooth quiet" delight. My wife even drove and indicated that it was like we were not towing, except for the visual perception of length. Strong prairie winds were never an issue, even with side wind sheer. If fact we had a dramatic tire failure (pow!); and despite a shredded, exploded tire and blown off trailer wheel well cowling (fender skirt), when my wife was driving there was no concern for loss of control.
I feel that the Andersen WDH 'saved our bacon'!

Vic SS4 out of 5 starsLightweight anti-sway trailer hitch
Reviewed in Canada on December 11, 2025This antique sway trailer hitch works great lightweight easy to use. At the time I purchased this the size I needed was not available. I needed the 8 inch drop and not the four. For versatility, but it’s close enough that I can use it just wish they had the proper one I needed at the time for full satisfaction . The reason I bought this for my trailer and vehicle to pull was it’s lightweight and easy set up instead of those 120 pound anti-sway bars you normally find my brother has one and it’s a pain in the ass. This works great, and I would buy again with no qualms at all, but in the size and drop that I need.
