This is a pretty great vent fan. Less expensive than maxair, better features and you can vent while the vent is closed.

2026 update:

I've had this fan almost 2 years, it gets daily use, multiple times a day. Last night I noticed the lid wouldn't open. Today I took it apart and the little mechanism between the motor and the arm that opens the lid has broken. It looks like I'll be having to order a whole new fan because I don't think I'll be able to replace just that part, and doing so would require about as much effort as just installing a new fan. It was a great fan while it lasted. If you don't use yours daily like I do, it would likely last as long as your camper.

I have had this fan in my bathroom for close to a year now and I absolutely love it. I currently live full time in my camper, so it gets used on a daily basis. I wish that I'd bought another of these fans to replace the fan in my bedroom as well, but just one fan still gets the job done. Its main job is to pull the moisture out of the bathroom when we shower, its side hustle is being the A/C when the weather is nice.

It replaced the small flimsy original fan that was in my bathroom, and after using that terrible thing for a year, this new fan has been a game changer for me. It has significantly cut down the moisture in the bathroom. If you run it on 100% with the lid all the way open, you won't have any moisture on anything outside of the tub when you are done showering. If you are able to run it for a while after showering it helps dry the bathroom a lot faster too. The only drawback is that you are going to pull some outside air into your camper, so if it's really hot or really cold it will suck your a/c or heat out rather quickly.

With that being said, if circulating the air in your camper and bringing in some crisp outdoor air is your goal, this fan has you covered. When the weather is nice I open a window in my bedroom and a window in my sons room and crank the fan up. You can definitely feel the air flow throughout the camper. My room is at the front, his is at the back, and the bathroom is in the middle-ish portion of the camper. My parents and my brother also have similar fans and I find that they are usually turning their a/c on long before I have to. I'm not sure if they just don't have as good of airflow as me, or if they just get hot faster than me, but I keep giving credit to my fan and how great our airflow is. I also want to mention that if there is an offending smell that you need removed or if the overly sensitive smoke detector goes off, open a window and turn this bad boy on 100% and all is well again in no time flat.

When it is exceptionally hot or cold outside, I like to crack the lid and put the fan on about 50% to avoid sucking all of our cold or hot air out while showering. When you open or close the lid, if you press the button once to start opening the lid, let it open a bit, then hit the open button for a second time, it will stop the lid in that position - allowing you to only slightly crack the lid if desired. I usually turn the fan on and listen as the lid opens, as soon as you can hear that the air is able to be pushed out without much resistance, you can stop the lid at that position. Since the lid is so dark, its very difficult to see how far you have it open when its dark outside, so I have learned to rely on my ears.

Speaking of the dark lid, lets talk about that. This lid really blocks out a ton of light, while still letting enough in during the day that you don't need to turn on the light. As soon as you open the lid, light floods in. My shower and sink in the bathroom had a lot of discoloration from the sun (this is an almost 20 year old camper that had been sitting stationary for years). I decided to re-finish them with some Tough as Tile when I remodeled my camper last year and they look great. With the addition of this fan I feel confident that they won't be getting sun damaged as long as my lid is closed, which is the majority of the time.

Another feature I want to touch on is the ability to run the fan while the lid is closed. This is probably to most useful, yet also least powerful feature of all, and also the reason why I chose this fan over others. I have found that running the fan above about 20% with the lid closed is not very effective. I usually run it at 10% if the lid is closed, and max out at 20% if needed. Anything higher than that just seems to create too much turbulence to be very effective at sucking moisture out quickly. I find that no matter what the speed setting on the fan is, its just not enough to get the moisture from a shower out of the bathroom if you are leaving the lid closed. If it is raining I will usually turn the rain sensor off and ever so slightly crack the lid and try to shower as quickly as possible. Unless its raining cats and dogs not much rain will come in that way. If you leave the rain sensor on it will continuously close the lid on you. And yes - the rains sensor DOES work! It has saved my butt on several occasions. I have found that after having to run it barely cracked you will still have a lot of moisture in the bathroom, so after I close the lid I will let it run on 20% for a while to get the rest of that moisture out. I wouldn't be able to do that with some of the other fans I had looked at, so while that feature did not work as well as I had hoped when I purchased the fan, it does still play a very vital role that I personally couldn't live without now, especially considering this is our full time home and moisture is our enemy.

This fan comes with a remote, which is my primary means of operating it. You can also use the buttons on the fan itself, but I mounted our remote on the wall with some velcro so that you can reach it no matter where you are in the bathroom, so it's very convenient. I do not have to remove the remote from the wall in order for it to control the fan, but I mounted it with velcro because the remote didn't really come ready to mount and I needed a simple solution. The remote will give you the status of whether the lid is open or closed, what power level the fan is on, if the rain sensor is off or on, the temperature where the remote is, and the direction of air flow either into or out of the camper. There are also dedicated buttons to change the settings for all of these options on the remote.

There are times when the fan doesn't respond to the remote (this has only happened 2 or 3 times in the past 10 months), but if I turn the fan off at the wall switch and power off the remote, then turn everything back on it always solves the problem. I think that this problem has potentially been caused by the wall switch being turned off while the fan is on. It has only ever happened after a guest used my bathroom and the fan was on at the time. I would turn the wall switch back on and the fan would be unresponsive to the remote. Power cycling both seemed to be the solution. There was at least once where I had to use the power button the the fan itself to get the fan to power back on. Just putting that out there in case someone else runs across a problem.

Over all I have been very pleased with this fan and unless someone came up with a much more efficient way for it to run with the lid closed, I wouldn't want to replace it. My only regret is that I only ordered one when I remodeled.

Looks and function great. Remote control is fantastic. Moves plenty of air unlike the stock smaller fan. Very pleased with this, time will tell on reliability/dependability, but first impressions are very good. Functions well and moves a bunch of air. Looks great, and is very slimline when closed. Barely would have spent this money, and would have never spent double for the brand name version that looks to be identical. All in all this will prove to be a great benefit to controlling airflow and/or rapidly moving air in or out. Thumbs up!

Intuitive install overall. I used my own self tapping stainless screws for the exterior roof mount. Pulls a great draft at all speeds. Assuming it last a few years, it’ll be worth every penny.

A good fan, but it makes noise at high wind speeds, so it should be placed as far away from the driver's cabin as possible.

This item should be on top of your list for RV upgrades. Easy installation, although the instructions were pretty much worthless. The fan is super quiet, multi-speed and user friendly. I'm going to be replacing my other 2 fans soon.

I just installed this yesterday so durability I can not speak on, but it is a great fan. The remote is a great touch, it was already paired with the unit. It really moves air at 100%, it's not loud until you get above 50% and even then it's not terrible. The only thing I worry about since it is the Chineseium version of the Maxxair is parts availability. The hardest part of the install is removing the old lap sealant and butyl tape gasket. The pigtails for the wires came out the opposite side I need them so I had to extend them so they came out the correct side. I'd say this is pretty versatile in regards to the orientation of the unit when you install it. I decided to go this route vs the the Maxxair because this one was half the price and did the same thing. Time will tell if I turned a $300+ dollar fan into a $500+ fan because I'll need to buy that one anyways. If I can get a few years out of it I'll call it a win.

We bought two of these fans instead of the Maxxair fans since the price of those had gone way up. We are happy to tell you how wonderful these fans are! While they don’t have a rain sensor, the fan is very powerful and works so well. There is no reason to spend the money for something for the name of the product. You won’t regret buying this fan!

This fan is just what we were looking for. The bathroom fan in our new RV was just too high for my wife to reach, the remote control is a great feature. Everything works great and was easily installed. However, the instructions do suck, they are just for a basic vent fan. They do not tell you that you must open it all the way remove the four screws (two on each side), remove the flange, install on the roof and then reassemble in place.
