Cools Fast, Runs Quiet – Perfect for Large Rooms
Reviewed in the United States on April 16, 2026I’ve been using this Midea Duo portable air conditioner for a few weeks now, and I’m honestly very impressed. First of all, the cooling performance is excellent. My living room is around 500 sq ft, and this unit cools it down quickly and evenly, even during hotter days. The inverter technology really makes a difference—it maintains a consistent temperature instead of constantly turning on and off.
One thing I really appreciate is how quiet it is compared to other portable AC units I’ve owned before. Even on higher settings, the noise level is very reasonable and doesn’t disrupt sleep or watching TV. The dual hose design also seems more efficient, and I noticed it cools faster than my previous single-hose unit.
The build quality feels solid and modern, and the setup was straightforward. The included window kit worked perfectly, and I had everything up and running within 20–30 minutes. I also love the smart features—it connects easily to Alexa and Google Assistant, making it super convenient to control from my phone or by voice.
The heating function is a nice bonus as well, especially for transitional seasons when you don’t want to turn on central heat. It adds great versatility and makes this unit useful year-round.
Overall, I think this is a great value for the price. Efficient, quiet, easy to use, and packed with useful features. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a high-quality portable AC unit

Reviewed in the United States on April 20, 2026It's truly amazing. I love its overall appearance, reduced power consumption, faster and better cooling effect, and energy saving. The cooling speed and intensity are more than doubled. It's rare to see such a portable air conditioner that's completely silent. It's a portable air conditioner that also has a heating function. In addition to cooling, it provides excellent and efficient heating, allowing you to enjoy a comfortable experience in any season. It can also be connected via an app and voice controlled, making it very intelligent.
Importantly, this air conditioner excels in quiet operation, producing virtually no noticeable noise during runtime, ensuring uninterrupted sleep even at night. It provides a comfortable and quiet user experience. Whether for daily rest or work environments, it perfectly meets the need for a quiet space, making it a high-quality product that balances performance and comfort.

Amazing unit, great performance, few minor gripes, get this over any other unit.
Reviewed in the United States on April 29, 2026Took a gamble on these after getting tired of watching my baseboard heaters eat through the electric bill. Ended up buying two of the Midea Duo 14,000 BTU units—rated for about 550 square feet each with a 12,000 BTU SACC figure
1
5
—to handle my three-bedroom apartment, and honestly they've been a solid upgrade. The heat pump setup pulls air from outside to warm or cool the place
3
7
, which beats the heck out of resistive heating. The efficiency gap compared to my old baseboards is no joke.
Install wasn't terrible but wasn't exactly plug-and-play either. Somewhere in that middle zone where you need maybe half an hour and some patience. The unit rolls, sure, but it's one of those things you technically could move around yet realistically want to park in one spot and leave there. That dual-hose rig takes up space
2
, and I wouldn't want to relocate it every weekend.
Both units cool and heat faster than I expected for the size of the rooms. The black finish helps it fade into the background instead of screaming "appliance" in the corner. On startup the fan runs pretty aggressive on high, but it settles into a medium or slow hum once the room temp catches up. So far no mechanical issues across three months of regular use, and popping out the filter for cleaning is easy.
Winter operation is where things get interesting. Neither unit is rated below 40°F, so I expected some grumbling when it got cold. Both shut down around 27°F ambient, which tracks. But there's a weird variance between my two identical units—one starts struggling at 35°F while the other keeps trucking down to about 29°F. Just a quirk of manufacturing tolerance I guess, and not a dealbreaker since I knew the limits going in.
The included hose is kinda short. I grabbed longer ones on Amazon so I could route condensate drainage outside properly, and that made a big difference. Remote control works great minus two things: no backlight on the buttons, and the range is weaker than I'd like. I have to point it pretty directly.
Smart home integration is the main headache. Matter syncing stays buggy and disconnects more often than it should
4
6
. Cycling power fixes it, but it's annoying. HomeKit also refuses to acknowledge there's a heating mode, so I end up using the native app for anything beyond basic cooling. Fingers crossed a firmware patch sorts that out eventually.
I'm mostly happy with the purchase. These things handle a legitimately large space, sip power compared to what I had before, and the heat pump tech is impressive inside a portable box. Planning to keep both running for years, and if I move somewhere bigger I'll probably grab another.
Pros:
Much more energy efficient than baseboard heaters, with noticeably lower power draw
Heats and cools large spaces quickly (550 sq ft coverage per unit)
Air filter is super easy to remove and clean
Black finish blends into the background instead of standing out
Uses outdoor air for heat pump operation, which is technically impressive for a portable unit
Cons:
Matter smart home syncing is buggy and disconnects often; HomeKit also fails to recognize heating mode
Remote lacks backlighting and has limited range
Included hose is too short for convenient condensate drainage without buying extensions

Powerful but somewhat annoying unit, concerned it could develop mold
Reviewed in the United States on September 24, 2025Am overall pretty happy with this device, the heating and cooling modes pack a punch and the drain feature for the heat pump works well, although it would be nice if it had a clip to attach the hose to a bucket.
The temperature setting on it seems to be more of a suggestion though, I wish I could set up a heat to and cool to temperature and actually have it target those temperatures instead of overshooting them by several degrees. I have tried the remote temperature feature in multiple areas of the room.
The unit has a powerful blower and can direct it around the room fairly well. It's a very heavy unit, two people are needed to move it between floors.
The fan noise is fairly loud when it initially kicks on, I wish I could set it to use a "quiet mode" at night without having to set a fixed fan speed.
I am cautiously optimistic about the mold situation, the unit hasn't developed any visible mold and I have been able to keep the odor at bay by spraying the blue fan wheel through the front vent and the back coils with a thymol based botanical cleanser. There are already reports though of this unit developing mold not unlike the Midea U shape, if that happens I will report back about this and update the review to 1 stars. (I haven't had the unit for very long yet.)
I haven't had any leakage from the unit but the bottom drain plug doesn't have a screw attachment which is a little worrying, it could get pulled out and dump disgusting water all over the living space if it manages to vibrate itself out or loosen (perhaps from a pet). I 3d printed a holder to keep the tubing attached to a bucket.
I do think they did a good job with insulation, the unit comes with some cellular plastic foam to put around the already well designed hose assembly that traps the less desirable hose around a larger one containing ambient outside air, insulating it somewhat. It also included foam to put in the windows as is typical but additionally had flat foam to put on the back of the window insert to insulate it, which is more than many units.
Also it is worth mentioning that other units which seem to be competing with this unit actually aren't. Don't waste your time comparing this unit to a Whynter, Toshiba, or Danby unit that looks nearly identical as it is just a rebranded midea unit. Just buy this one ideally or whichever gives the best discount.

Don't buy it to heat your room.
Reviewed in the United States on January 1, 2026Worked fine for cooling in the summer, has been a disaster for heat in the winter (one of the major reasons we bought THIS one). It pours water all over the floor, kicks on and off constantly, can't keep the room warm, is very loud and annoying. Customer support was worse than useless.

Amazing air conditioner .
Reviewed in the United States on March 27, 2026I bought this portable air conditioner for my bedroom, which has a pretty high window , and it worked out perfectly. The exhaust hose fits the window kit nicely, and even with the tall windows, the installation was easy. It started cooling the room within a few minutes, which was impressive. The cooling power is strong enough for a medium size room, and it keeps the temperature comfortable even during hot afternoon. I also like the wheels on the bottom, which make it easy to move from one room to another if needed.
The noise level is about what I expected for a portable AC . I can still sleep with it running.
Overall, it’s a great option if you need extra cooling without installing a permanent unit . Good value for the price and I’m happy with the purchase,

Great AC terrible heater
Reviewed in the United States on February 10, 2026The only bad with this machine is the heater. If it's below 50 outside it will not work. What's the point of having a heater on it if it can't work properly? The AC works wonderful. Installation is a bit of a pain but it's fine. I don't notice the noise. It's easy to move. It look nice.
