I almost did not buy this because in the product description it lists the "Item Dimensions" as 10 x 8 x 2 inches. The one I was replacing in my trailer is 6.25 x 2.75 x 1.75 inches and it is flush mounted. The reason I replaced the C.O. Alarm in my trailer was because the old one malfunctioned and the siren went off when the trailer was not in use. I had not even thought that these alarms expire. When I took my old one out to see what was going on I found a sticker on the back that said "Replace after 60 months" and the date on mine was 12 years ago. This all happened on a Saturday evening after the local trailer supply store was closed, so I turned to Amazon. The Safe-T-Alert by MTI 35-742-BR looked exactly like my old alarm, except the dimensions listed were way off. I decided to buy it anyway and figured that I would just need to cut a bigger hole in the cabinet to install it. When it arrived, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was exactly the same as my old one. The only thing I can think makes sense is the dimensions listed on Amazon must be the size of the box it comes in, because this unit is 6.25 x 2.75 inches. When I put the new one in I wrote the replace by date on the front with a sharpie. I probably could have made it prettier with a label maker or something, but at least I will know when to replace this one.

    After reading several reviews for the white one I went with this one mainly for contrast in color for the instructions printed on it. There were quite few less reviews for this particular unit compared to white model but the only one that seemed alarming was the one that said they received one that had the date changed. Naturally as soon as I got mine I checked the manufacture date and i had brand new unit manufactured in January 2019, not one sitting on shelf for 2years because the color was blah. Kudos amazon :) the manufacture date is stamped in red so also kind of hard to change it. Another review said it sparks when they were wiring it, well that's because they didn't read the instructions that said to remove power before connecting it. Even though its a low power draw amperage/voltage removing power is an essential step when dealing with electronics that operate on milliamp scale. Would be very easy to fry circuit board with even a spark. Save yourself embarrassment remove power and read instructions. Super easy install, power, ground and two screws to hold it to the wall. Its also nice to have two different lights to show which type of gas its detecting, i liked that.
