CURT TruTrack Weight Distribution Hitch with Sway Control
Precise weight distribution. Active sway control.
The CURT TruTrack weight distribution hitch with sway control is quite unique from other weight distribution hitches. The TruTrack weight distribution hitch not only redistributes the tongue weight of the trailer to put less stress on the tow vehicle, but it also integrates the function of a sway control unit to actively control trailer sway.
This combination of weight distribution and sway control into one product allows for some of the smoothest, safest towing possible and allows you to start enjoying your passion sooner, without the stress and worry of an inadequate towing system.
More key features of the TruTrack weight distribution hitch
- Heavy-duty, cast head and forged steel spring bars
- 2” x 2” adjustable shank with 2-1/2" option available
- Protected by a durable black powder coat finish
- Available with pre-torqued trailer ball
- Multiple weight capacity options
Advantages of the CURT TruTrack weight distribution hitch
Integrated sway control
The TruTrack weight distribution hitch with sway control eliminates the need to purchase a separate sway control unit. It uses two cooperating methods to control unsafe trailer sway: a spring & cam system and adjustable brackets.
Spring & cam system
The spring & cam system of the TruTrack weight distribution hitch keeps constant pressure on the spring bars to resist lateral movement. This keeps the trailer better in line with the vehicle while still allowing for smooth turns.
Adjustable support brackets
Unlike traditional weight distribution hitches that use spring bar chains, the TruTrack weight distribution hitch with sway control has adjustable brackets. These brackets keep the spring bars fixed in place and can be adjusted to fit a variety of towing setups.
Easy, versatile setup
The TruTrack weight distributing hitch comes with a pre-torqued 2 5/16" trailer ball and has two neutral spring bar settings that allow compatibility with virtually any A-frame trailer, whether narrow or wide.
What else makes the TruTrack weight distribution hitch unique?
Dual sway control operation
The CURT TruTrack weight distribution hitch with sway control doesn’t just rely on friction. It combines both spring bar friction and a highly durable spring & cam system to control trailer sway.
Hardened cams
The cams of the TruTrack load-leveling hitch are made from hardened metal to be less subject to wear. They are also allow the hitch to remain quiet during operation.
No periodic adjustments
Unlike some weight distribution hitches, the TruTrack weight distribution hitch does not require periodic adjustments to maintain proper integrated sway control.

Product Description
While many weight distribution hitches are made to be compatible with a sway control attachment, the CURT TruTrack is an advanced WD system that integrates the sway control function into the design of the hitch. It combines precise weight distributing with active sway control to deliver the smoothest, safest ride possible. This, coupled with the easiest setup in the industry, truly makes the TruTrack unparalleled in its class. Like all WD hitches, the TruTrack 4P uses a pair of spring bars to leverage the trailer tongue weight and spread it across all axles of the vehicle-trailer combination. However, instead of using spring bar chains, the TruTrack connects to the trailer frame using heavy-duty, adjustable support brackets that hold the spring bars in place laterally and vertically. While regular spring bars angle from side to side, the integrated sway control arms resist this movement and keep the trailer better aligned. The TruTrack also features a unique spring and cam system that builds up pressure to actively stop sway and then relaxes to make smooth turns. The hardened components are less subject to wear and last longer than competitor models. Setting up the TruTrack WD hitch is faster and easier. While other WDs use washers and blind guesswork to find the proper tilt, the TruTrack employs interlocking nuts and six preset holes to provide specific angles of tilt and a simpler adjustment method. Unlike most WD hitches that require you to partially disassemble the hitch head to make adjustments, the interlocking nuts can easily be accessed on the outside of the head, making installation fast and adjustment easy. In addition to its integrated sway control and easy setup, the CURT TruTrack offers the same great quality as our other WD hitches, making it the perfect choice for campers, livestock trailers, car haulers and other heavy-duty trailers.

Excellent all in one product!
Reviewed in the United States on July 2, 2017I've been using this on my 3500 lbs single axle travel trailer for over a year now, and it works awesome. The sway control is a huge help, especially because the single axle trailer would sway a lot while driving. With this system attached, it is so much better, I could not be happier! I keep it lubed up with a few shots of grease here and there, which is easy to do with the lube zerks, and I just use a finger to physically put a little grease on the metal ball detents. It was easy enough to install (took me about an hour) and is higher off the ground than the other chain models. This makes it very easy to get in and out of the driveway without scrapping the ground. With this system, the low spot for ground clearance is the actual part that hooks up into the back of your truck, so if your truck is low on ground clearance from the back, you might have trouble getting in and out of the driveway. For me, this was an all in one awesome purchase (sway control, weight distribution, bobbing control) and I would buy it all over again.
The only thing I will say is this looks to be a bit of a lighter duty system than most others. This is fine for me, as my trailer is only 3500 lbs. Keep this in mind before purchasing. If you have a heavy duty trailer, buy a heavy duty system. If you're anywhere close to the 10,000 lbs weight limit it states, go up and get a heavier duty one. This is a good rule of thumb for just about anything with towing. This would also explain why some of these other idiot reviewers broke their systems. That and don't do a 90 degree turn with this on ur rig. If you need to do some crazy maneuvers, just remove the bars and put them back on after (it only takes a couple minutes).
UPDATE: It’s 2022 and still going strong. Last year I even sold my single axle 3500 lbs trailer and now have a 6500 lbs double axle trailer. Everything still works like the day I bought it. New trailer is higher off the ground so I flipped the L-bracket and installed myself again. Curt just makes great products.

Worth the money!
Reviewed in the United States on September 25, 2021For me the Tru Track system is well worth the price.
I have a 2017 F 150 Lariat. My trailer is a 2021, 19' Gulfstream Vintage Cruiser.
Prior to installing the TruTrack system I could get up to about 55mph before the trailer started getting squirrely.
After the 1.5 hr instalation (keeping in mind I'm about as mechanically inclined as a rock) I could pull at 68mph with no problem. It did start to sway a tad at 70mph.
All and all it made for a great towing experience. I was able to go up and down mountain roads with ease. Withe the security that the TruTrack system was working just as it should.
The box has some chunks missing upon arrival. However, no parts were missing.
Installation was as expected. If I were more mechanically inclined it would have gone smoother. One bit of advise? If you don't have the right size tools at the beginning, make sure you get them prior to installation. It takes a pretty big socket and really large wrench to properly install.

Excellent quality and performance!
Reviewed in the United States on November 25, 2020I purchased this hitch after returning a different brand that arrived in a poorly packaged container, resulting in missing essential parts. I don't know how UPS keeps delivering these things when they weigh more than 100#. I needed this hitch in order to take delivery of an RV 750 miles from my home. If it hadn't worked properly, that trip would have been stressful and dangerous. The RV mechanic installed the hitch on my Toyota Tundra according to the Curt instructions. The hitch allowed the truck to remain level while providing excellent sway control. I checked the bolt tightness several times in the 750 mile return trip with no problems. Stability was excellent even in wind and a morning of icy conditions. So far, I am very happy with the Curt hitch. Now, I'm glad the other(more popular) brand hitch arrived damaged and had to be returned.

Stops sway! Helps with leveling
Reviewed in the United States on August 1, 2022Update. I replaced the bent metal diamonds and traveled another 600 miles. No problem this time. I may have not had it torqued tight enough the first time Yikes! So far so good now. Now I just need replacement L brackets for the leveling bars.
Well... where to start?
Let me just say first that how things have ended up with the system It works and I'm glad I own it.
Pros- stops sway in a major way. I just drove almost two thousand miles with this. I tow a Lance bunk house trailer 2185 from the year 2015. It's a decently heavy trailer and it's 26 feet long. There was really little to no sway using this.
Cons- Well tips, tricks, and a what you are doing wrong or a how to fix it section is really missing. I know the Curt people have a vast knowledge of setting up these hitches as well as what to do if leveling is off etc. But where can I find that? So... this took me with a friend helping me 4 hours to set up. I have a 2022 Ford F150 with the factory tow package. Getting this system to level my trailer within a couple inches of front of truck rise and back of truck drop was hard. I tried every option and more that the directions had listed. In the end I just had to crank things tight with thr leveling bars. So much so that stuff ended up bent. Yes, you can see in the photos. As well the L brackets on the traiker tongue not only bent bit the steel literally squished and stretched and created valleys and more. Ahhhhh. What am I doing wrong. I followed all the steps and went back through several times making sure each was correct. Also besides leveling it must have not been torqued tight enough? Major steel bending going on. I ordered and paid for a new bolt kit and torqued that bolt down tighter than tight. Drove another 800 Miles and the bending you see in the photos did not happen again. Phew! That was sketchy!
So after my trip I messed with the set up again. I still can't get the trailer level with the truck level as well but I'm only a couple inches or so off. Truck still steers fine. I can if the set up is way too tight and being that tight is just too much for the metal. So allowing it down a notch is close and it still rides quite well. This system isn't perfect and really I wonder if a Curt person with major knowledge of the set up would know exactly what I am doing wrong or if it just is what it is. I wish there was more info out there about trouble shooting. But it works and I will keep it, may have to get a few more replacement parts lol.

Great hitch! Makes me feel safer and more confident
Reviewed in the United States on September 3, 2024Using this on my setup. A 24x8.5 enclosed trailer loaded with a car and toolbox setup. Using a 6.2 at4 to tow. Helped level my truck/trailer with the adjustable shank. The one I have in this picture is 17120. Got caught in a pretty serious storm and really think the sway control helped everything going straight. I also added bags to the truck to help get a little more level

Works really well. Easy to install
Reviewed in the United States on July 7, 2024First off, this is a great hitch by a very reputable company. I bought for my 30’ camper since I couldn’t use the other hitch I had. My last truck was lifted, my new one isn’t. Easy to install, easy to maintain with the grease fittings easy to access. 10/10 would buy again. But most likely won’t need to.

Amazon Customer5 out of 5 starsWorks as intended. Worth the upgrade or spending more from traditional equalizer hitches.
Reviewed in Canada on August 10, 2021I previously used a traditional equalizer hitch on my trailer. Unfortunately the trailer had lots of sway from winds and passing larger trucks on the highway. Switched to the trutrack and the difference is huge. Eliminates almost all the sway and tows very solid and straight. I tow my holiday trailer through everything from open prairies to the mountains. Highly recommend this product.

Gibbs4 out of 5 starsGreat upgrade to previous hitch
Reviewed in Canada on May 15, 2021Set up and install was a breeze with very clear instructions. Have not used it on a long tow but did some short distances for testing purposes. Felt waaaay better than previous hitch which was a standard weight distribution hitch with chains. With old hitch used to see trailer wiggle when looking in the mirror - this hitch was rock solid.
Glad I made the investment.
