Excellent Hitch!!!
Reviewed in the United States on January 22, 2025Full time on the road worker/RVer here. Really performed well, fit my puck system perfectly. Easy to install, set up and remove. Worth the money for the peace of mind and ease of use when hauling my camper. Much better than the aluminum pyramid goose neck adapter hitch I had in my last truck. This hitch is REALLY sturdy and feels confident while pulling a camper. Love it!!!

A very solid and superbly designed product in what seems like the wild west of 5th wheel hitches
Reviewed in the United States on July 26, 2023I'm new to the 5th Wheel world having had a bumper tow travel trailer for a while. Upgraded my truck to a new Super Duty and ordered with the pre-configured Ford 5th Wheel Prep (puck system). Did a lot of research and agonized about 5th wheel hitches or slipper hitches for increased turning. Decided on the B&W Companion after much research - the fact it comes in two distinct parts, each weighing approx 75lbs means it's easily dismantled and removed.
DIY in our house means 'destroy it yourself' so I was somewhat worried about putting this together in the right way so my trailer didn't free itself at some point due to shoddy implementation. I was very pleased to find it was pretty much a doddle to install. I watched a couple YouTube videos and started the install. 60 minutes after starting I had a fully installed and functional hitch in the bed of my truck. Also pleased that the tonneau cover still closes over the hitch, which also takes up a surprisingly small amount of space in the bed.
All in all, a great product, easy to install (and remove). Genius to make it out of two easily separated halves which makes removal a doddle if necessary. I've only taken it out once as it's surprisingly small. We've towed our 15,000lbs trailer over 2500 miles with it now with not a single problem. Very confidence inspiring.

Best 5th wheel hitch on the market
Reviewed in the United States on February 24, 2025In my humble opinion this B&W oem puck system hitch is by far the best value and best performing 5th wheel hitch on the market, hands down. It's extremely easy to assemble and extremely easy to remove and reinstall.

This thing is a BEAST!
Reviewed in the United States on March 11, 2026Right up front, I love that it's manufactured in the USA. Beyond that, there are several things that you need to be aware of:
1. You will need a 3/4 inch socket and a torque wrench capable of 110 ft-lbs in order to tighten 8 boIts.
2. Make sure that your pickup truck has the puck system installed in the bed. Ours didn't and it cost $2400 to have one installed (when I found a place that would even do it!).
3. Make sure that you are ordering hitch for your specific truck. The one I ordered is for a Ford F250, F350 or F450. IT WILL NOT FIT IN A RAM OR CHEVY. There are models that do fit those makes. Order the correct one for your truck.
4. You'll need a grease gun (or have access to one) to grease the zerk (grease fitting) on the bottom of the 5th wheel plate once or twice per year, plus some lithium grease (or a 5th wheel lube disk) to reduce wear and tear on the hitch and king pin.
5. You MAY have to adjust the castle bolts that hold the hitch to the truck if the hitch is too loose when locked in place, or you can't lock it in place because the bolts are too tight. The process is simple and explained well in the installation instructions.
Beyond those cautions, this was extremely easy to assemble. Four bolts on each side of the hitch, plus 1 small nut and bolt that holds a spring in place and 2 nuts and bolts to attach the coupler handle. Simplicity at its best.
With both parts of the hitch weighing in at a total of 153 pounds, this thing is built like a tank. When I asked the RV dealer to recommend a hitch, he didn't hesitate. B&W. If I couldn't find that one, he recommended Curt and Reese (in that order).
While the GVWR of our trailer is just over 10,000 pounds, I opted for a hitch rated for 20,000 pounds (5,00 pounds vehicle tongue weight). The difference in price isn't all that much as compared to the cost of the trailer, and if I want to upgrade to a bigger (heavier) trailer later on, I already have the hitch that can handle it. Something to consider.
My only complaint is how B&W ships the hitch. It comes in 2 parts IN HEAVY DUTY CARDBOARD BOXES. After going thru the UPS system, the boxes are trash. Some other reviewers complained about missing parts (the bag with the bolts, etc.) and I can believe it. Luckily, all the parts were there for my hitch.

Made in USA, and it shows, but undetermined if it can be secured from theft.
Reviewed in the United States on May 3, 2021Well made and fits together perfectly. My only concern, and I am still working on this, is how to protect it from theft. After I got it installed, I thought about how to secure it to my truck, and how to secure the top half to the bottom half. For securing the top to the bottom, I thought I would replace the pin (see picture 3) with a locking pin, but then I am concerned about strength. Will my locking pin be as strong as the B&W pin? How to know? As for securing the base to the truck, the castle nuts on the four corners can be easily removed. Does this then allow the entire hitch to be lifted out of the bed? After getting it installed so easily, I have not taken the time to remove the 4 castle nuts so see what happens, also with both parts together, it is a lot for me to lift. When I have answered my own questions, I will try to update this review. In the meantime, maybe B&W will answer these for me.

Nice Hitch, Easy install
Reviewed in the United States on October 9, 2023Hitch arrived in two boxes. One of the saddle arms got bent in transit, but still works. Didn't have time to try to get a replacement.
Assembly instructions were very clear. Verified all parts were present and gathered required tools.
Installed on a 2023 Ford F350 with fifth wheel prep. Took me maybe an hour for installation.
Picked up new fifth wheel. Latching and unlatching were no issue. Pulled very nice. No jerking when stopping/starting.
Recommend purchasing a lube plate so you don't have to grease the 5th wheel hitch plate. So much cleaner. Only grease I used was on the king pin coupler jaws.

Awesome hitch! Easy to assemble and install. Performs flawlessly.
Reviewed in the United States on September 20, 2020So after looking at all the hitches available for my 2014 For F250, it seemed to be a clear path that the B and W Companion for use with the Ford pucks was best. Everything was as described on the B and W website. It installed quickly and easily. Having it a a separate base and hitch makes handling ~75 each reasonable, versus ~150 for a typical hitch. With its 20,000lb capacity, it leaves a lot of headroom with my truck's 15,900lb fifth wheel towing capacity. I pulled our new-to-us 40' Cedar Creek CKTS 2,800 miles from Florida to Montana on the BandW. The latching/unlatching is positive, obvious, and secure. The two axis freedom of rotation helped accommodate uneven roads in construction areas, and a few oddly uneven campsites. Great hitch!
