I use this controller with a Mercedes GL 350, an iPhone 13 Pro, and a Cargo Express 14 foot trailer. I got this product because I did not want to find space for a big controller interface box in my fairly compact under-dash space - partly because I am 6'7" tall and don't want to loose any leg clearance. The setup is just as simple as the YouTube instructional videos say it is. The controller and the Bluetooth app work very reliably while driving. The app is designed to keep the program running without going to sleep (with or without aux power), and it allows you to run the app in the background while you use (and switch back and forth with) a navigation app like Maps or Google maps. Once it has been set up and a profile initiated, it is possible to use the controller without the Bluetooth app (or if you loose connection or shut the app off) although it will just run on the settings of the last used profile. I really don't mess around with the settings while driving, so this is not an issue, although you do loose the ability to command the brakes ON while driving without applying the vehicle brakes just by using the controller (but the brakes still do come on just fine when you hit the vehicle brakes). (Apparently manual activation of just the trailer brakes alone can be used to correct an oversteer slide by the towing vehicle, but I have not had a chance to try that yet - fortunately.) I have only 2 minor complaints. First, the controller is kind of long - so when it is installed on my vehicle (with a low mounted and downward pointing trailer wiring plug) the plug and the trailer connection wire get close to the ground and I need to use a bungie cord to insure ground clearance. Also it is vulnerable to missteps as with loading the vehicle or from dogs climbing into the back of your vehicle. And second, for some reason the fit between the controller and the trailer wiring plug is not great - it needs a lot of force to connect (even with WD-40), it is hard to get the retainer latch to engage, and it always seems a little insecure - but it does work - no failures in my experience. Maybe thats just a problem with the Cargo Express plug - maybe not. But bottom line - this is a great product, it works great, and it very nicely gets around the awkwardness of a dash or under dash mounted brake controller.

I was very skeptical about a plug and play unit, and given the price I felt like it was a gamble but I pulled the trigger anyway. I am so very glad that I did. This worked beautifully. Easy to install. The only thing to know is you may want to write down the number under the cover before installing as the app will need it and once the unit is in the wiring harness on your vehicle it may be a bit awkward to get to. Other than that, it was easy to program and a very user friendly app. The bonus is that I primarily bought it for my truck to pull my camper but can put it on my Jeep as well if I want to tow the boat with it. Would def buy again.

Super easy install, saves vehicles and trailers, appears to function as described. While not the cheapest option, it seems like a great way to cover multiple vehicles for multiple trailers without having to permanently mount anything.

Works well with r-pod 172 and highlander (with properly installed 7pin connector). Not sure why this thing is so pricey for what it does. App could be better. Having user to accept 3 different warnings/agreements each time you launch the app is a huge pain in ....

I purchased the Curt Echo Wireless Break Control less than a year ago. It wasn't cheap, but the reviews were good. I just replaced it with a wired system because the Curt unit completely failed. There were 2 main issues. Because the unit is long and heavy at the end, it can loosen up. The velcro strap that came with it is completely useless. I ended up using bungee cords to hold it in place, but it still loosened up traveling over rough roads or in heavy traffic. Driving, I would realize that I had no lights on our trailer, and would have to pull over to push the unit in to stay firmly connected. The final issue was break sensitivity. I would end up setting my app at a sensitivity of 1, and the the breaks would still grab. I tried various settings, and it was worse. The last straw was when I was stuck in heavy traffic and the breaks were jumping- grabbing so hard we had to pull to the shoulder of the highway where I removed the unit. Once I removed the unit, everything was fine. I drove in stop-and-go congestion with no breaks on our trailer in order to get home.

When I got home, I installed a break controller, which works perfectly. This was not as easy to install, but the new unit was less expensive and does the job I need it to do. (For the record, I drive a Honda Pilot and we pull a ultra-light 17' fiberglass Casita camper.)

I just drove 900 miles using this brake controller and it worked great (really great). My wife got a new 2025 RAV4 and didn't want me to drill any holes or add any brake controller under the dash. I just used a cellphone holder and ran the app the entire way and the brake controller software on the cellphone ran continuously without my screen every going blank. My biggest fear was it would come out of the brake receiver and break but it holds tightly. I didn't need to use any tie straps or Velcro to secure it. The blue tooth connection was solid and it never dropped signal. The PIN code to connect to your phone is inside the lid of the unit. I normally don't review things unless it really like it or really hate something. I'd definitely recommend this item.

The app is pretty good but seemed to be picky on my Samsung Galaxy S23. Ended up running the app on a different phone to discover and configure the Echo.

Operation was good but frequently lost Bluetooth connectivity with the phone. This didn't concern me because the controller works autonomously from the tow vehicle brake activation signal and the accelerometer sensor readings inside the Echo.

Towing a 6000 lb tandem axel 22 foot camper with my 2011 F-150 felt very solid and reassuring with the maximum setting of 80 and a sensitivity setting of 7. The Echo simply worked. When Bluetooth was connected, seeing the reassuring circular bar-graph around the emergency trailer activation button was nice. I'm certain that putting the phone up higher and not sitting on the seat would help greatly and is recommended.

I like not having the inconsistencies of an in-cab 3rd party brake controller and having that bump under the dash to hit my knee on. The Echo is completely outside at the 7-way trailer connector. It does protrude quite a bit and recommend just making sure it doesn't get in the way of anything as you tow and turn the trailer.

It is quite a bit more money than an in-cab controller you need to install (plus the specific wiring harness for your vehicle). But for the ease of installation and reliable operation I'd pick this over an in-cab wired controller. The only gotcha seems to be getting the phone app permissions right and getting the app to recognize and pair with the Echo which is all done in the app. I've had issues with other apps on this Galaxy S23 which doesn't make it better, but attests to some possible compatibility issues that hopefully get addressed in future app updates.

I reviewed it. Called camping world for advice and they sell them regularly. It was easy to install and field tested already. Works great. I’m worried about it falling off with the rubber strap
