After much research we purchased this before we went full time rving across the country. It saved us in our first campground and several times since in the past 6 months! A great piece on mind to protect our motor home from old faulty electric at rv parks. We loved it so much we gifted one to my sister to use as she lost her entire electric system on her rig due to faulty park wiring and ended up replacing her entire rig due to the damage!

We choose this one due to the bluetooth app it offered. It is very nice to open the app and see why it cut the power without having to run out to the electric pole and see what is going on. (especially on cold, rainy nights!!) The app will also tell your your electric use which is nice to monitor in case you want to boondock and know what you are really using or if you are in a campground that charges for usage.

if it does shut the power down for surging or undercurrent-it monitors the electric and turns it back on as well. Very nice piece of mind to protect expensive electric components on your rig.

Only complaint I'd have is the brightness! It has a huge bulldog face on the unit that shines bright white when all is good. This draws attention to it for someone who maybe looking to help themselves to it. We have not had any neighbors complain about the brightness however. Do make sure to buy a cable to secure it to the pole to make sure it doesn't walk off in the night.

works great It also nice with the Bluetooth capability. I have accidently multiple times drew too much current in the RV.

and this thing would trip and all I have to do is get on my phone and restart the device. you don't have to go outside to reset the breakers also you can also monitor how much current you are using. nice little protection from surges and it is easy to use to plug and play and setup the app on your phone

It's very easy to use, simply connect it to the hookups at the campsite and then to the RV's power cable. Flip on the circuit breaker at the campsite and it will power up and filter the electricity being fed to your RV. There is an app (for Android, not sure if it's for apple) that allows you to monitor its status and performance. You can manage it with the app too, and reset it if it clicks off because of a power issue. My only gripe is like a lot of other people have, about how bright the unit is at night since the face of the unit lights up. To remedy this, I used some non-transparent foil tape (for ducting) to cover the face of the unit except for the small digital readout that will display error codes if an electrical event occurs. Other than that minor issue, I really like this item as it makes me feel secure knowing my RV's power system is safe. I also like that it has a way of locking it with a chain to the hookup at the campsite, so that way it stays mine and not someone elses.

I am a first-time RV owner. The cost of any surge protector is going to be far less than internal electrical repairs of appliances inside the RV. I got this unit for two reasons. First, it not just detects problems, it actively protects against many problems well beyond simple surge; that's not true of some other alternative brands. Second, the surge protection module is replaceable. That's quality design, and customer-focus

The app is awesome. I really found it useful to sit in our RV and watch the amps draw in real time. For example the compressor in our A/C cycles on and off according to the thermostat, but the fan is manual and always runs. I found the ability to monitor when the compressor cycled on and off was very useful in quickly fine-tuning the thermostat to ensure the A/C was set properly. I can also see when the hot water heater kicks on, gauge how many amps each appliance draws, and know when I have spare capacity to plug in a particular extra appliance into a 120 volt outlet.

One word of caution and one suggestion for improvement. For other customers like me, please note that there are two apps from this vendor with similar names. One has a black dog face with red highlights and one is a red dog face with white highlights. They are for different products and you have to get the right one or the app won't work correctly. As for improvements for the vendor - the illumination when the unit turns on is hard to see in direct bright sunlight. An increase in brightness, or an additional LED to indicate all is well, would be a great improvement.

Great for use hooking to a fixed power source, but will not function with a generator. And yes, my generator is properly grounded, but it thinks it isn't. Not a big deal, but something to be aware of. Bluetooth app works well. A little bulky, but light weight.

A complete shore power management system for your RV, protecting you from spikes, low voltage, and overcurrent situations. I got this with the mission of measuring AC loads in my RV so that I could size a solar solution. Without actual measurements, it's difficult to size solar correctly. The bluetooth app lets you see the power consumption as various loads switch on and off. I built a spreadsheet to build out my load usage profile and quickly identified what I need for a solar power bank. For example, I was delighted to discover that my AC has "soft start" where the fan turns on for a few seconds, and then the compressor turns on to reduce the surge current required. This means I can run with solar and a generator for AC use. AC's use a lot of power, so solar alone isn't the solution. Yet, I'll be able to power everything else, now that I know what my loads are and usage is.

It is physically much bigger than other power protection solutions, and as others pointed out, it has a bright light. I turn the face towards the power pedestal and bungee it in place, and will be adding a security cable to increase resistance to theft.

I'm happy!

I've heard lots of horror stories about how some RV parks don't supply the best electricity, which has led to damaged equipment and fires. I wanted to make sure I had an EPO to protect my investment, but some of the others out there are seriously over priced. I found this one from Hughes and couldn't be more impressed. It will run a check on the stability of the electricity coming from the post at your site before it sends anything to your RV and you can access the device via Bluetooth to see how much your RV is using. Best part is that if this EPO detects a problem it will shut down the supply of electricity to your RV to prevent any damage. It's saved me from and overvolt and an undervolt so far. If it cuts power and there is still power to the pedestal you can find out exactly what happened by just logging into the app on your phone. You can even reset the device from the app and get your power back as long as everything is back to normal. There is no need to walk outside and check your connections, which is nice in bad weather or late at night. Very much worth it and it comes in cheaper than competitors.

Used this in the two different park's so far and the price is well worth my piece of mind! Plug it in and it quickly let's you know if it's good power or not.. and then plug the trailer in. Your fully protected from surges and low and high surges with EPO.. Emergency power off.. This unit fully protects your investment... Pair with your smart phone via Bluetooth and you can view exactly how much power is coming into the camper. The APP is simple and well thought out. So far I'm extremely impressed with this unit! Oh and the Pitbull face lights up bright at night can see that glowing face from a long ways off.. It'll be white when all is well and red when it's detected a problem... I can highly recommend this if you want piece of mind! Cheers

Bought this to use with our travel trailer - won't happen til Spring.

However, I tested it at home on the 30Amp receptacle for powering the trailer while in the driveway. Bluetooth works great with Android 12 on a Pixel 4 - also on my wife's Pixel 2 with Android 11. Provides the key information needed for our purpose.

Can't comment on the level of protection yet - just hope we have the same results as some other reviewers.

Update - Been using this for 3 seasons now with no issues. It kicked out at one park that we visited. We were running an electric heater at the time. I tested the output at the pedestal with my meter - 104 volts and occasionally lower. Reported this to the park manager - they had the power company show up the next day and confirmed my findings. The tech was amazed at the information provided by this unit. They have actually made upgrades to their system since then.

As noted in other reviews (hard-wired unit) it will kick out if overloaded. While running A/C, water heater, and fridge - it kicked out when we added the coffee maker. So it does what it is supposed to - manage the electrical supply along with surge protection.

At my first usage, unit detected a missing ground. Called the site electrician and he was quick to conclude that my “toy” was probably wrong. It turned out the ground wire was cut inside the site socket. The toy was right. Detected high current and cut the power many times before the trailer/site breaker cut off, confidence inspiring. I would like the app to offer more possibilities, quite basic.

This is the genuine Hughes product, not a knock off, I called Hughes in California and checked serial number with them and they said it was the real deal.

Bluetooth connected easy and provides all needed info. This way, you may connect and store the unit in a locked compartment by connecting a short 30 amp extension cord from the RV to the Hughes, then a longer cord from the Hughes to the RV park post panel. No one can steal it if they cannot see it hanging off the post and glowing in the dark, and you don't need to go out and into your locked compartment to see warnings, just check your phone app or get alerted by a warning message from that app if problems arise.

First time plygging it in at home, (new electrical panel) in a shed, got a ground fault. the electrician forgot to do something in the panel. Our new neighbor (electrician) fixed it. Right off the get go, it turned red. Very impressive. Would buy again
