Remember WEN?
We've been designing and distributing high-quality and affordable power tools for decades. Founded by Nick Anton back in 1951, WEN originally made its mark by helping bring tools and electricity together (putting the power into power tools). Our research and development team played a vital role in helping to develop a variety of common everyday tools such as the chainsaw, the electric soldering gun, the electric jigsaw, the electric engraver, and the knife and wet wheel sharpeners. WEN even pioneered random orbital technology – the technology seen in most polishers, waxers, and buffers today that gives cars everywhere the streak-free shine they deserve.
Since then, our expertise has expanded to encompass a wide variety of products, including drill presses, lathes, bench grinders, nailers, miter saws, hand tools, generators, and cordless power tools, to name a few. By 2001, only 50 years after our humble beginnings, we had already sold over 50 million consumer units. By 2021, we had sold nearly 80 million. Today, WEN's headquarters can be found in West Dundee, Illinois. Our goal is to help woodworkers, DIYers, and artisans across the world execute their wildest imaginations.
Woodworking
Since 1951, WEN has been helping woodworkers complete projects of all shapes and sizes with our extensive line of benchtop, handheld, and floorstanding woodworking tools.
Generators
Whether you're on the job, at home, or out camping, let power be one less thing you have to worry about. Our vast line of inverter, dual fuel, and traditional gas-powered generators means we have the exact wattage and feature combination for any application.
20V Battery System
Power your life with the WEN 20V Max Battery System. Any of our 20V batteries are cross-compatible with all of the products in our always-expanding line of WEN 20V handheld tools.

Product Description
Remember when you had clean and quiet portable power? The WEN® 4,000-watt inverter generator provides clean energy, free of voltage spikes and drops for safe use with laptops, phones, and other sensitive electronics. Designed to mirror a pure sine wave, this generator limits total harmonic distortion to under 0.3 percent at no load and under 1.2 percent at full load, making it safe to run sensitive electronics. Our ultra-efficient 1.85-gallon tank provides over seven hours of half-load run time. Maximize fuel economy by engaging the eco-mode switch. This allows the generator's engine to automatically adjust its fuel consumption as items are plugged into and unplugged from the panel, preventing the unnecessary usage of gasoline. Need more energy? Easily link up two generators using a WEN® Parallel Connection Kit (sold separately) in order to share wattage amongst multiple units. Low-oil and low-fuel automatic shutdown combine with the built-in overload protection and indicator lights to safeguard both your generator and your electronics from damage. And because it's a WEN® product, your open frame inverter generator comes backed by a two-year warranty, a nationwide network of skilled service technicians, and a friendly customer help line, all to make sure you remember WEN®.

Affordable and Reliable Power!!!
Reviewed in the United States on July 21, 2025I purchased this generator specifically for emergency situations and it's exceeded my expectations. My goal was to find something affordable yet powerful enough to run two electric heaters in the winter or a portable A/C unit in the summer—and still have juice left for essentials like a lamp, phone chargers, and our modem/router. This unit handles all of that with ease.
It may not have the extra bells and whistles found in higher-end inverter models, but I didn’t need those. What I wanted was reliability and simplicity, and this generator delivers. It starts with one pull and hums along at a reasonable volume (around 50 decibels from 25 feet away), which is perfectly in line with similar units.
One standout feature is the eco mode, which adjusts the engine speed based on the power demand—saving fuel and reducing noise when the load is light. I also really appreciate the open-frame design—it makes it super easy to drain the carburetor after use, a huge convenience.
Unlike some models, this generator doesn't have a carbon monoxide shutdown sensor. Personally, I prefer it that way. I’m very aware of the safety rules when operating a generator and never run it indoors or in confined spaces. Without the auto-shutdown, I don’t have to worry about wind triggering unnecessary shut-offs.
It is a bit heavier than I anticipated, so I picked up a folding hand truck and now it's fully mobile—problem solved. It comes with a standard two-year manufacturer warranty, and I opted for the extended protection plan, giving me four years of peace of mind.
Overall, I’m extremely satisfied with this purchase. It gives me confidence that we'll have power in any situation.

One of the best values for a generator out there
Reviewed in the United States on June 17, 2025This has to be the best value for a workhorse generator! And I mean workhorse! It spent all last summer being my power source, like it ran 24/7 for over 8 months straight, only getting breaks to change the oil, add oil, refill with gas, and clean the air filter. There are several models of this generator, some of them include the CO sensor, some are dual fuel capable, some have electric start and some are pull start only. This one is electric start with the CO sensor and only runs on gasoline. When I got it I was surprised to learn just how small this generator is compared to others with the same rough output. Set up was super easy and required only a few tools (which they included) to set it up, it comes with EXACTLY how much oil you need to break it in, the electric start works flawlessly, but for the first run I wanted to know how easy this would pull start and it started on the first pull! Just follow the instruction manual to a tee for maintenance and you will get a heck of a value for one killer generator!
When the expected happened and I killed the motor burning it up in the Arizona heat at around the 6000 running hours mark, I called wen customer service to ask to purchase another motor since everything else about the generator worked just fine, and they did the unexpected! They pressured me into them sending me a whole new unit free of charge! They said it should last at least through the warranty period, and since it didn't they were sending me a new unit! AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM WEN!!! Night and day customer service from Generac to WEN! This instills utter confidence in my purchase of a generator or really anything from this company.
Also worthy of note, when changing the oil it requires EXACTLY 16.9 FL OZ of oil in the crankcase, so I was able to re-use some of my empty disposable drinking water bottles (after letting them dry of course) to measure out exactly how much oil it needed every oil change. Also the owners manual says to change the oil every 50 hours of runtime, but WEN customer service said to change it every 24 running hours, so I have been following those recommendations with the replacement unit and it seems to be lasting a lot longer than the first one, I'm also not using it as much anymore since I got my solar system active (3-4 hours 5ish days a week to top up the solar system batteries before I go to bed.)

Good investment!
Reviewed in the United States on November 19, 2025A little workhorse. Have had it about week and it has performed great. Able to run a demolition hammer and a shop vac at the same time. After watching the delivery person not be so careful with which end is up decided to remove the shipping plate and let set overnight. Simple direction. Added premium gas and it started right up. Blue smoke for a bit as it first ran but that went away. Runs at about 82db. Electric start is a major benefit!! Only issue was the drain screw on the fuel cup needed to be tightened. So far a great unit at a great price!

Overall well built but has a few drawbacks to me
Reviewed in the United States on May 18, 2025Overall it's a good generator. There's a few nueance things that are a little frustrating with it but not deal breaking or things you can't work around.
It was easy to assemble and the instructions are generally easy to understand if your mechanically inclined. It's easy to put the handles on the wrong sides or forget to put the loops on for the pins. But again easy to fix that with the handles being 1 bolt and a pin.
I have the electric ignition one (it was somehow listed at the same price as the pull start only) and it has the pull start as a backup. I haven't used the pull start so I can't say how well that works as of yet. The ignition works like a dream. The only downside to me, and again this is strictly personal preference, is it's a rocker switch. I would personally like a push button. But it starts almost immediately as soon as you rock the switch down.
There were 2 things that kept me from making this a 5 star review of the generator. The 1st being the fine threads on the oil dipstick no matter what, wants to try and cross thread or go in offset. And if it does DO NOT, and I can't stress this enough, keep trying to tighten it. It's a plastic dipstick, it will cross thread easily. Instead keep struggling to find it's perfect spot and it will line up. There's no way to see if there is any lines to line up unless your laying on the ground or floor of your shop. The only other option is to have someone else help you lift it onto a table.
The 2nd thing is that holding the rocker switch to off on the panel will not shut it off. Instead you have to grab the rpm handles below that and pull it all the way to the left or reach around and turn the gas off. I'm assuming the off on the rocker panel is for the power out of the outlets. Which should have a switch obviously. But it should have an off switch to turn the motor itself off outside of using the shutoff or rpm control.
The fail safes do appear to work. Running it full blast with just a battery charger will make it shut off with a fault, as it should since it's sending a ton of power into 1 outlet.
The noise level isn't terrible, I've heard way louder generators in my time. If I had to compare it to anything it's around the same level as a push gas lawn mower. Maybe a few db lower than a mower. So if your just starting it up and leaving it run while your not near it then you'll be fine. If your on a job site working near it most of the time I would suggest ear protection just because of the prolonged sound.

Good price for what you get.
Reviewed in the United States on February 10, 2026So far so good. Just got it. It took about 1/2 hour from receiving the box to running on propane. Assembly was easy with included tools, added my own oil, the funnel is included. Started right up. breaking in now with about 10000 watt load. For a consumer grade generator it is well made. Keep in mind this is not an inverter so it is heavy and about as loud as a lawnmower. will be useing for power tools and a 160 amp smaw welder on friends property.
Will come back and edit if any issues.

2 years is still running strong
Reviewed in the United States on May 22, 2026Been using this generator now for 2 years I live in the mountains of Tennessee so our power goes out quite regularly and I use this as a backup power for my refrigerators and freezers.
This is a really nice portable little generator it's easy to move around. It will run about 8 hours on 4 gallons of gas it's quieter than my home light 5000 w generator. I ran it for 3 weeks straight during hurricane Helene, I have about 2,400 hours on this generator and it's still going strong.I would definitely recommend this little wen portable generator.

WORST PURCHASE EVER DO NOT BUY THIS
Reviewed in the United States on August 6, 2025man such an all around disappoint. first off just like dozens other reviews mentioned mine also arrived with some pretty bad damage literally requiring me to spend roughly the first 3-5 hours of owning it taking it partially apart and literally welding parts of the frame. Then when putting the handle/wheels on i noticed i was missing both a nut and even worse one of the pins for the wheel, which ended up costing me half my day and probably at least 40-50$ total just in fuel then buying the parts. now these are the minor issues if you can believe it! their just is simply no way possible this thing is putting out anywhere near the advertised wattage conidering the only real thing ive even used it on so far was simply on my tiny little 110v welder which mind you i literally use with my 2400w all electric power station without a single issue but yet this unit which is supposed to be nearly 3x that amount of power simply seemed to struggle as when i just simply would just welding a little it would sound like it was it about to explode which genuinely makes no sense. I mean, I should say it does power the welder but my Lord, you can basically hear it start to kick in and out the idle like it’s struggling very much and then on top of that I had to use half a day and nearly a half a roll of welding wire and luckily, I had enough scrap metal laying around to essentially finagle the whole thing together and sturdy and then once I finally got it stable oil in it and I was running it to power a small little travel trailer, which I’ve powered with a 3500 W generator before so this thing should add no problem and that’s when I discovered if you got a model with the CO sensor shut off well just know that that thing is so sensitive that basically if you drive by the generator while it’s running, the air will blow and instantly shut it off which obviously I’m glad I was testing it out during the day because I sure would’ve hate to have woken up in the middle of the night with no power but basically between 4 PM and about 8 PM the generator had shut itself off seven times and mind you I just bought multiple acres of land in the middle of the desert where I have the generator sitting nearly 30 feet away from the travel trailer not a single other thing around it My only assumption is whenever there’s a gust of wind. It must blow the CO just enough into the sensor to shut it down which in my mind this is way too sensitive at this point I was already exhausted as I spent the entire day working on it so I initially I had some plywood laying around, so I tried basically setting that kind of around it to block the wind went inside 20 minutes later it just dies. And well, that’s when I started looking online if I could find any diagrams or how to bypass it because let’s all be honest here. I don’t think very many people are that clueless. They’re just gonna fire this thing up inside their living room or something and personally, even if I was mounting it like in a cubby in my motorhome or something I would much rather prefer to use external CO sensors, like on my previous rig, I had to set up where I had a small generator that I could slide out kind of like a drawer, and I simply mounted a aftermarket CO sensor inside the cubby that wirelessly transmitted info/data to a small screen inside where I could essentially keep an eye on it, and I even as a secondary precaution, use a second sensor inside the motorhome plugged into an outlet closest to where the generator was at underneath where this one would simply flash and beep essentially just like a fire detector. Needless to say I’m no doctor, but I can guarantee you I would not have gotten any type of poisoning with this generator 30 feet away for my trailer outside while I’m inside and at this point I was about to just take it to the dump until I googled how to bypass it and there’s lots of videos about this for other brands but I literally just found it one video of a guy bypassing his on a Wen generator as well, but not even near the same model and so 11 o’clock at night in pitch black I unscrewed the whole front plate. Praying the colors of the wires were the same as the video I saw and sure enough they were and so there’s a black and a white wire that you need to essentially cut and wire together, and this will bypass the co shutdown. I mean, I’m all for safety, but I see no reason for it to be so sensitive. It shuts the whole generator down in the middle of the desert with nothing around, so bottom line is I essentially spent basically two full days having to go buy stuff and work on this generator just to make it function and then I found out after using it for about two weeks that I made a major mistake and this is the biggest reason I recommend everybody avoid this at all costs, unless maybe you’re buying it to use once or twice a year for emergencies because I’ve had dozens of generators in the past and of course prefer the new inverter style one, but I have a decent size battery bank and solar set up and I figured no reason to buy an expensive generator and noise isn’t really an issue for me but the one thing I didn’t take into consideration, even though buying this versus like the inverter model of it saves you about $250-$300. If you use this generator fairly often, you are going to easily spend that much more just in fuel in three months or less I promise you and that simply because like most people you’re not always using the generator to the max, but it essentially runs the max so basically if I’m just using it to power a lightbulb or an entire house, it runs exactly the same and this thing is a propane and gas hog. It literally costs a fortune to run. I mean there’s been times where I simply needed to run it to hook up my battery charger to charge up my battery bank because there wasn’t enough solar that day, and it uses as much fuel as if it was plugged into my trailer with every single thing on when inverter style ones essentially idle down and up for when less or more power is needed, which this I suppose might’ve been a mistake on my part but regardless in my opinion, I’ve had other generators in the past that also weren’t inverter style and were way more efficient so just be prepared to have a lot of propane or gas even with a huge almost 7 gallon gas tank. You’re lucky to get 12 to 16 hours out of it and honestly initially, I wasn’t even going to use gas at all as I prefer just using propane but once I got it all good and used it for the first time I hooked up 230 pound propane tanks with a splitter and was blown away that both tanks were empty around dinner time when I started it probably at 10 in the morning so unless you need a generator where you’re gonna be using the full power output every single time I cannot stress enough please do not buy this thing not to mention the hundred of other reasons if it was returnable, I would’ve returned it instantly and honestly probably went with a different brand but even if you want to stick with this brand, you can get there 6800 lot inverter model for about $300 more which trust me you’ll save that much in 2 to 4 months easily depending on your usage, not to mention much quieter and efficient output so now I’m so upset because I’m probably just gonna have to sell this locally where I’ll be probably be lucky to get $300-$350 and then purchase a different one so all in all I spent nearly 3 days of my time and probably roughly $50 in miscellaneous materials, just even getting this thing usable and a few weeks I did use it probably spent over $100 between propane and gas so in the end, I went with a different inverter brand style one which was 829 but in all reality practically cost me well over $1300 due to all the money I put in to getting this thing working and usable all the fuel I wasted, and then of course, resale value is never as high as new price. And with my new one with those same two propane tanks, it literally easily runs a full 24 hours which again I guess this is partially my own fault, but I still think this thing is very inefficient fuel wise, but regardless of that, as I already mentioned bothers a dozen other reasons not to get it in my opinion, I guess it would be probably a good generator for somebody looking just to have an emergency backup for their house. They might use 2 to 3 times a year but personally, even then you’re already spending over $500. What’s the difference spending 800 for such a better generator and it just really bugs me that these aren’t returnable on Amazon when they say it’s a safety hazard, but that’s very strange considering multiple other websites that sell generators have no problem doing returns. To save yourself the trouble and headache I went through and by yourself virtually any other generator besides this thing not to mention customer service with zero help I mean, I would’ve honestly been more than happy to even give it a three or four star review if they would’ve responded and maybe worked with me Whether they allowed me to return it since it arrived damaged or at the very least offered like a partial refund or something specially considering I’m guessing the majority of people aren’t handy like I am and have the correct tools to weld rewire and do things meaning I bet 80% of the people ordering these if they would’ve gotten the same one I did would’ve had a paperweight with no help personally I wouldn’t even buy this thing for $200 considering just the cost of using it is sky high. I could honestly go on and on about the negatives of this thing and truly I can’t even think of any positives at all I truly could handle anywhere near the advertised 6800 W I could maybe understand it would be a decent generator for 500 bucks to some people but in my opinion, it can truly only handle maybe 4 to 5000 W at least safely and without damaging the generator, I mean a generator this size shouldn’t even hesitate when plugging in say nothing more than a 30 amp battery charger and a small 5000 BTU window air conditioner, but doing that literally made the generator sound like it was a max RPM even surge on occasion and I truly believe that just even using it with these two items which are maybe even on the high side, pulling 2500 W it would probably blow up after 12 hours of use or best case scenario it certainly is going to have a short life because bottom line it’s still just a gasoline engine and no engine is meant to basically red line 24 seven it would basically be like driving your car at 60 miles an hour and first gear everywhere you go and honestly, this is such a disappointment because I’ve owned a couple other generators from this company a few years back and not only were the generators. Much better built Customer service was exceptional and how do you even got extra accessories like the oil included and other things and now seems like the quality is tanked you barely get anything and customer service is pretty much nonexistent seems like unfortunately once they got bigger and more popular they realize they could keep selling generators solely on their name instead of the quality of their product and service. I mean literally I exchanged a few emails with them and just gave up because I was honestly either talking to AI or someone who had no clue about anything like for example I would email and ask about the CO monitor and would literally get a reply basically saying things like oh do you have enough oil in it is the gas turned on I mean, never got any direct answers to my direct questions which is also why I ended up going with a different brand because I was highly considering buying the 6800 W inverter model they sell for about $800 but in my opinion, customer service is 50% of any product you bun. hould have known for the price and also listened to other reviews, which is the biggest indicator this thing is garbage because no matter what you’re buying it’s always gonna have some bad reviews but the way I go by his if you see multiple bad reviews mentioning the same things that typically means it’s spot on and I’m guessing probably 70% of the five star reviews or people who bought it, threw some oil and gas in it ran it for a minute and then stored it in the corner of their garage and also of course must’ve gotten lucky with a decent delivery which clearly if they were a decent company, I mean there’s dozens and dozens of reviews just on this particular model where the generator arrived broken in so many different ways where any decent company would immediately either contact whoever they use the ship and have a big meeting about it or something to get it straightened out or simply use a different shipper because the damage rate is just way too high. I fully understand it does happen no matter what you buy on things, but I order so much stuff that’s more fragile and even bigger than this and almost never have a problem. I would’ve honestly gladly even paid an extra $25 or something if it guaranteed it arrived undamaged that way they could take that $25 and maybe package it better or use a company that might cost a little bit more but I guess since they know there’s virtually nothing we can do since it’s unreturnable and they don’t even respond they don’t even care. id highly recommend looking elsewhere for literally any other generator and I rarely leave reviews like this but seems like you have about 25 to 35% chance of maybe receiving a intact and good running generator which means there’s a 70% chance you’re gonna receive a damaged one, not to mention the million other issues and at least to me I’m not gonna gamble $500 with such low odds of receiving a functioning unit not damaged. Just trust me when I say even if you can’t possibly maybe afford to spend a few hundred dollars on a different model right now you are so much better off just saving your money and until you can because there’s a high probability you’ll end up like me spending nearly $1400 on a generator that only cost 800 and between repairing the initial one and then having to sell it buy a new one wait for it. It was well over a month ordeal. And this is the main reason I decided to leave this long review because I much rather would’ve spent an extra $300 off the bat had a great running generator right away and the $500 I lost dealing with this piece of junk, I could’ve used to make my battery bank bigger or get more solar panels, etc. etc. I mean I would’ve even been thrilled if they would’ve simply offered me a $60 partial refund to discover all the wasted money in materials I had to buy the get this thing running at the very least. Because it bare minimum, nobody should ever order anything online that’s brand new and have to spend money fixing it to get it to work. I mean, I’ve literally purchased $200 items in the past where something very small was either missing or broke let’s say and immediately the company let me know and offered you know like a $50 partial refund for something like a $15 power cord or something I had to get separately Without hesitation so the fact this company can’t even do something similar on a much more expensive and bigger issue situation really shows you their true colors again not to mention the fact that I’m assuming a vast majority people don’t just have welders laying around and many years experience doing this type of work. And them even offering like a $60 partial refund isn’t even necessarily about the money. It’s just more of the point this is something I would expect buying some Chinese brand on AliExpress not a fairly well-known name brand on Amazon that’s for sure. Just please listen and read this review when I say this thing is not worth it. I genuinely mean it and like I said, I almost never leave reviews.

Solid piece of equipment and well designed
Reviewed in the United States on July 31, 2025This is the first generator that I have owned. I have not had a need to use it during a power outage yet, but I am very impressed with the design and operation so far. I am an engineer by degree (not electrical) but the design of this machine is impressive. The assembly was very straightforward. Actual small wrenches, not pressed pieces of metal, were provided in sufficient quantity to fully complete the assembly. The oil fill has a sufficient diameter inlet to visually confirm that the proper amount of oil has been added, and a funnel is also provided with the machine. You will need to purchase your own oil in a type to match the temperatures where you live. The fuel fill is a large diameter to help reduce spillage when filling the tank. It comes with a large microfilter to collect any debris, and the cap is connected by a chain to prevent you from dropping it and getting dirt and debris on the gasket which can harm the engine. The fuel fill is also recessed with a spillway so that if any fuel is spilled it is diverted away from areas where damage could be incurred. The battery has a quick connect so that you can easily prevent the battery from draining when not in use. The push button start works like a champ. Just open the fuel valve and slide the choke to run once the engine starts. I read one review that their generator didn’t stop when the run switch was turned off. I can only assume that they did not read the instructions and failed to close the fuel valve prior to switching the generator off. American made is always a huge plus. Overall, it is a very smartly designed machine. The manual recommends running the unit for 20 minutes per month. I intend to do just that and expect many years of operation out of this well-made machine. A solid 5-star piece of equipment.
