How to select a 5th wheel hitch: What size is the truck bed?
Your truck bed length will determine the type of mounting platform you’ll need for your 5th wheel hitch: legs or a roller. 5th wheel legs are the standard option for mounting a 5th wheel hitch, but they will only fit in a long-bed truck. For short-bed trucks, extra clearance may be needed when making tight turns. A 5th wheel roller will allow the hitch to roll backward, providing enough clearance between the trailer overhang and the truck cab.
Does the truck have an OEM puck system?
If you own a truck from Chevrolet, Ford, GMC, Nissan or Ram, your truck bed may be equipped with a puck system (pictured). If your truck has a long bed with the puck system, select a CURT 5th wheel hitch with the appropriate OEM puck system legs. If your truck has a short bed with the puck system, select a CURT 5th wheel hitch with the appropriate OEM puck system roller or roller adapter.
Do you prefer permanent base rails?
If your truck does not have the OEM puck system, you will need to install 5th wheel rails. The traditional method for installing base rails is to use vehicle-specific under-bed brackets. First, select the custom under-bed brackets that fit your specific make and model, as well as a set of industry-standard base rails. Next, if you have a long-bed truck, select a 5th wheel hitch with legs. If you have a short-bed truck, select a 5th wheel hitch with a roller. Remember to always abide by the weight capacity of the lowest-rated towing component.
Would you like the option to easily remove the base rails?
Another 5th wheel mounting option is a gooseneck hitch. Using the CURT Double Lock EZr or Double Lock gooseneck and X5 adapter plate allows you to have a removable set of industry-standard 5th wheel base rails. First, select the Double Lock EZr gooseneck hitch kit that fits your specific make and model. Next, select the corresponding X5 adapter plate. Finally, if you have a long-bed truck, select a 5th wheel hitch with legs. If you have a short-bed truck, select a 5th wheel hitch with a roller.

After Six Years With A Curt 16115 E16, I Bought A New One As A Replacement
Reviewed in the United States on February 19, 2026I tow a GD Reflection 150 Model 295RL. Traveling full time or up to eight months a year places a priority demand on a high quality, yet simple, 5th wheel hitch. I had been using the Curt 16115 E16 since 2019. Began showing its age from heavy towing use. I didn't hesitate to be a repeat customer of the Curt 16115 E16 hitch. Didn't bother to consider anything else since my first hitch performed to my expectations. It's a great companion for the Reflection 150 "Turning Point" . I practiced the hitching procedures with the new one. Everything works as expected. The new one fit exactly into the existing bed plates. Over joyed with the potential use with the new hitch.

Rock solid, easy to use
Reviewed in the United States on April 20, 2012Purchased the Curt 16115 to use in a truck that already had the universal rail installed. The unit assembled easily with the instructions being clear and unambiguous. Mounted to the existing rail without any fuss. Have used it with a 12K fifth wheel a couple of times, and found hitching up to be very straight-forward and easy. Have had another brand of fifth wheel hitch in the past, which wasn't nearly as easy to set and release. When it arrived, the box had been damaged and taped up. Don't know if that occurred during shipping to me, or if the seller had taped up the packing prior to shipping, but all parts were present and undamaged. Overall I would consider the Curt 16115 fifth wheel hitch to be an outstanding value for its price.

Highly recommend
Reviewed in the United States on February 25, 2016This is a fantastic product. After deciding to move to Arizona, and being between houses, we decided to purchase a fifth-wheel trailer and live in that while we took our time looking for a house. My hubby had no trouble installing this in his pickup ( and no trouble taking it back out at the end of the season) and it worked like a charm. It is heavy, and heavy-duty. We hauled the fifth-wheel from Michigan to Arizona, and all over the state once we arrived, hooking up the trailer and unhooking it as we went, and had no problems at all. Highly recommend.

Nice solid Hitch
Reviewed in the United States on March 18, 2011This hitch is OK, but is a little lacking in a couple of areas. Overall the build seems to be substantial enough to do the job and is certainly priced right compared to the competition and Curt has a very good reputation. However there is no where near the advertised 10 degrees of right left tilt that is advertised for this unit, more like 7 degrees TOTAL, 3-4 to each side of center. I really expected 10 degrees either way off center, silly me, I am old enough to know that advertisers will take every liberty they can! It probably will do OK, but I am keeping a real close Eye on it when we go off road on BLM land dry camping.
I like the good substantial chunk of steel that goes across the opening to lock the king pin in place, and it works quite smoothly. It is also very easy to tell when the unit is locked up and secure because that big old bolt is either in place or not. To make it even more visible I painted it white. What I do not like is that there was a shy 1/4" engagement on the one side of the bolt when in the locked position, I would have returned the unit for this "defect" but I needed it in a hurry to bring our new 5th wheel home so I just relocated the stop so that I had 1/2" of engagement. I think this is probably a factory tolerance thing but it is something I would keep an eye out for. Finally I was also a bit surprised that the handle has no lock in the engaged position but is free to swing around at random. I have a flat bed and it would be real easy for some joker to walk by and disengage the 5th wheel with a simple pull and twist. The handle then would fall into the down position fooling you into thinking it was engaged when it was not. Might not happen often, but once would be way to many times. I also fabricated a lock for my unit to keep it securely locked when it is hooked up. Probably would have added all of $2 to the factory cost. I know I probably voided my warrantee with all these modifications, but hey, if they built the darn thing correctly in the first place I would not have to be re-building it would I?

Nice Hitch
Reviewed in the United States on February 22, 2013Shipped fast, easy to assemble and appears to be built well. Nice shinny power-coat paint job with out a scratch. Had much better price for product than others. I had some problem with fit to my Dodge 3500 but it was because I positioned it a little too forward which meant I had to grind a 1/4" off the frame supports. Still I am very well satisfied with the purchase and know it is install very secure.

Needs better packing, doesn't fit the rails well
Reviewed in the United States on August 18, 2019Product arrived and UPS guy had to cradle it to keep everything in the box as it was shredded. Notice the pic the bottom brace was bent. I had to put it in a vice to bend it back to straight. Also it does not install well. After you put it together it does not go in the rails, you have to loosen the bracket bolts to get it to go into the rails. After it was in the rails you can tighten the bracket bolts. I suspect it will be a pain to get out. I do remove mine often as I use my truck to haul ranch items often. I am hoping after I tow with it, it will settle down and not be a pain to get in and out. My previous hitch sat in the rails and with a little tap from a rubber hammer it was in place.
I towed with it and it did seem fine, hooked up easy and disconnected easy. I agree with another reviewer, the welds seem pretty light for 16K capacity... I assume this has been tested etc. so I'm going to trust the manufacturing process. I do tow pretty heavy so I expect to be close to the limits often.
I chose this hitch because it was very similar to the one I was replacing that had a broken handle for disconnect. It is very similar but the head would not fit in the brackets of the previous hitch or I would have just used those brackets.
