Great product. Extremely simple installation. Seems surprisingly solid once installed.

I cut, and slit where necessary, portions of large and small foam pool noodles and placed on bike frames where they might contact each other or the bike rack upright or the camper trailer.

I removed our spare tire carrier and spare tire and carry the spare in the bed of the pickup.

Also I used two ratchet straps to fully secure the bikes down into the bike rack.

Bike rack took not time to install and both our new bikes fit perfectly. At first I thought rack would have been better with 2 support bars but the bikes were very stable with just the one. I cut a 5 inch piece from a large pool noodle, put a slit in one side and put it on the handle bar end that rests on the RV, it works great. Still trying to get the two bike "cover" on but first trip was only a three hour ride so I tossed it in compartment. I will try again on our long trip coming up. I measured swing distance on my tow vehicle and rack allowed plenty of room even on sharp turns.Great Buy for the price!

The brackets distributes the mount points across the rear bumper, Unlike the hitch type racks with a single trailer hitch slot. This hitch type slot connection can cause more shake and torque stress on thinner gauges bumpers. The downside is that the rack is not removable. I had to adjust the Left and Right racks so that my bike wheels fit into the tire slots. Again I liked this design, because the bikes were secure and bounced less than the 2 hook or single hook clamp racks. One of the racks has a vertical Extension that keeps side stress off the bike wheels, when stopping or starting. I wish both racks had the extension. I attached a 12 inch i bolt through the provided hole on the extension, So that I could strap down the bikes, I still needed to use several bungie cords to secure the bikes. The 2 hook and single hook clamp racks are a lot easier to tie down bikes. The bumper Racks are superior than bike racks attached to the RV Ladder, because it easier putting bikes on and you can position the rack in a place that the Bikes do not stick out. On my 5th wheel my water heater is located close to the RV ladder, when I used the ladder style rack, The bikes were always in the way (My water heater had a external on/off switch to when I want to use the electric heater instead of gas.

Attached to the bumper of my travel trailer, this carrier holds two bikes securely. I use a rubber bungee cord to hold the bikes to the vertical support. I also have the issue of the inside bike handlebar touching the back of the trailer. I used a sock with some extra padding to cushion the spot. Spacing of the wheels of one of my bikes is slightly less than the other, so one bike tire does not fully seat, but it works well enough. I also ran a strap around the top bars of both bikes down to the carrier to ensure the bikes did not try to hop out of the carrier when going over bumps. My trailer is 30ft long, and I would think bumps could be magnified where they are located. Plus I can't see what is going on back there from the driver seat, so the strap adds peace of mind. Good sturdy product.

I was hoping I could get my bike on the back of my Jayco with a spare tire. The bike fit great in the rack, but I had to remove on foot pedal so it wouldn't dig into the cover on the spare tire. The rack is sturdy and easy to assemble. Only one trip with it so far but it's working out.

So-put this on the back of our RV. It is a sturdy bike rack. Fits well and adequately supports the bikes. Seems like it will survive the flex and bumps on the back of a towed camper. Thought I would have to remove the bumper mounted spare and carry it in the tow vehicle. With a little ingenuity we designed and built a spare tire mount that fits between the two bike racks. Update 2020: It's been 6 years now and 4 cross-country trips Tennessee to Oregon and 1 cross-country that even went to Canada. Let's call it over 20,000 miles and totally satisfied with this bike rack. We have two medium weight adult trail bikes and the rack has performed without fail. I strongly recommend. Remember to check the welds on the bumper to the camper's frame. That will fail before this rack will.

Rack came as described, however, the image they show is really not true. We had to purchase larger/longer U-Bolts and nuts to have it fit correctly on our RV C-Class Bumper. If you plan on buying this rack for an RV expect to buy U Bolts to fit your bumper, this may work on smaller pop up camper bumpers but NOT RV's.

This Swagman Rack is well made, heavy duty, but light weight with a good durable powder-coating. It was easy to install and looks nice on the back of my travel trailer. Even though I used the provided upright bar for added support, I left my spare tire rack on the bumper which allowed me to secure my two bicycles with a cable lock, providing even more support.

I wish I would have known that bike axle to axle distances can be different as this affects how the bikes are mounted. This was entirely my issue but thought I would mention it as it might be helpful to other buyers. Despite this issue the rack carried our bikes very capably with no issues. Great product.

This rack is surprisingly heavy duty and strong for the price. I was expecting the usual cheap tin junk that you can bend by hand but it’s really good.

The design of this rack only allows the bike wheels to drop in a couple of inches so you definitely need to secure them downwards as well as upright support.

As others have mentioned, it’s baffling that there’s only one (unusually short) upright support bar for this “two” bike rack. Even a single bike rack should have a support bar on both sides to strap to.

Ensure that your RV bumper is continuous weld to the frame (not spot welded) or you risk losing the rack and your bikes on the highway.

Measure before ordering. I did need to move the spare tire apparatus as far to the right as it would go and the (inner) bike closest to the trailer is super snug and rubs against the spare. The rack really should be a couple of inches deeper to clear the spare (allow the bike wheels to sit out past the spare).

Overall it is a very sturdy unit but I am surprised at how poorly the engineering/installation aspect was researched- if at all.

If the racks were deep enough to clear the spare tire and had “two” upright support bars instead of one, I would give 5 stars. Even 10 if that was an option.

They could use some help with their verbiage on the instruction sheet. The way they describe the steps is confusing. You’re better off ignoring them (except for the safety warnings).

If you have a basic socket set and deep sockets, installation is a breeze. Maybe 10 minutes tops, once you’ve measured for your bikes.

Note that the bikes need to be of the same or very close in size as the racks aren’t adjustable once installed. One full sized adult bike and one child’s bike would not work for example.

We rack the two full sized bikes and throw the smaller ones inside.

I spent considerable time searching for a solid bumper rack both in stores and on line. Even with its faults you would be hard pressed to find anything as good as this one.

It is made in Penticton, BC, Canada which is why it is so heavy duty and not the cheap tin garbage we have become accustomed to.

Installed easy on the RV rear bumper. Had to take off spare tire but the tire’s carrier makes a perfect arm to attach bungee chords to secure bikes. Bikes rode smoothly as the weight is distributed evenly as opposed to the single arm bike carriers.

Easy to install..If you want to keep your spare tire will need to modify your spare tire mount. Then the spare tire acts as a bumper for your bikes..I used bungie cords to secure the bikes and a pool noodle..The bike closest to the rv you will need to turn the handle bar so it does not hit your rv. I have included some picts showing the existing spare tire rack mount mods.
