Product Description
About Swagman "Ride, paddle, explore: seek your adventure" That philosophy was the intention of founders Jim and Jan Morris who saw an opportunity to create a better way to transport your bike back in the early 90’s. Swagman was one of the first companies worldwide to design and market a hitch style bike rack. Over the years, that small bike rack company based in the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia grew to include numerous other ground breaking designs in the North American Bicycle, RV and Automobile markets.

Excellent Value
Reviewed in the United States on February 4, 2014I was worried about hauling our bikes 1800 miles on the back bumper of our 35' fifth wheel camper hanging from the frame or a ladder rack. I had a frame rack, but choose this one for several reasons. #1 it was RV rated, the piece that pins it top the frame is a full 2" x 2", not a smaller part with an adapter. I am sure you can buy fancier, but I found this a real value for the price and it preformed perfectly for me. Welds all looked just fine, paint is an 8 maybe, the brackets that hold the bikes easily can be locked (a feature I really appreciated) with two simple padlocks. Our bikes are Specialized (brand) Globe, I would call them "comfort bikes" three speed (like us old fogies' had or coveted when we were kids) ... a drop frame, but not exactly the old "girls bike" nor a level "boys bike", they were easy to put up there. Quite easy to put the bikes up there, they fit nicely without rubbing, etc.. I did wrap and duct tape a shop rag around the frames to protect the paint, I also likely went overboard and wrapped an electrical tie around each tire securing it to the loop they sit in. Did not use the adapter that came with it to secure to a square bumper housing the sewage hose, I made my own bracket and bolted it in to the frame. Sitting in the camper writing and if they make the 1800 mile trip home as well as down they were worth every dime. If the price is what you are willing to pay, I think you will like the Swagman 64663 RV rated bike rack!! ...................... I can put pictures up if I knew how or if it was possible.

Great rack
Reviewed in the United States on October 2, 2020I needed a 2-bicycle rack to fit on a travel trailer. The trailer has a 1 1/2" receiver hitch which might have worked but when I saw that the Swagman uses a bolt-on-the-bumper 4" receiver hitch and saw positive reviews I made the purchase. The bumper adapter is quite sturdy, as is the whole assembly. The inverted U-wheel retainers work easily and firmly secure the bikes in place. The screw bolt that holds the hitch bar in place, plus the two oversized set screws assure that there is absolutely no wiggle on any part of the assembly. I did discover that the handlebar rubs against the back of the trailer so I use a 6mm allen wrench to loosen and turn the handlebar out a couple of inches. It's an easy task. This could be resolved with a hitch bar that's 2" longer but that would likely result in more sway/less stability of the rack. I'm fine with it as is. I highly recommend this unit for use on an RV. I've also used it on my truck. Since the handlebars are higher than the tailgate there's no issue with rubbing on the tailgate. The price was reasonable and a heck of a lot less than many other racks on the market. Pay attention when shopping for this item, as there is a similar Swagman rack that is not recommended for RVs (I'm not really sure why other than it does not have the bumper adapter) and costs about $50 less.

Best bike carrier for RV
Reviewed in the United States on June 3, 2019This bike carrier is great, light and sturdy but yet RV rated, very easy to load bikes and when not in use you can fold the upright down to give access to the rear of the RV,mine has a door there to get into the rear storage area.on the others you have to remove the rack to do this,I see this a huge advantage.
The only problem is,as others have said it is close to rear of the RV. I fixed that problem by simply not using the rear hook and just laying the bike against the upright with a pool noodle to cushion it and putting a small ratchet strap to the frame and pulling it down,it makes it very secure.
The great price makes it a real deal even if it has to be modified a bit. The other ones that are RV rated are twice the cost.

Great Heavy Duty Bike Rack!
Reviewed in the United States on January 7, 2020This is a lot of bike rack!! I was surprised about the heavy duty quality but that makes it a very well-made product. Slightly on the heavy side but super easy to use and gives me peace of mind.
I’ve had this rack for six months now and have traveled extensively both on the back of my truck and on the back of my RV. We’re extremely happy with the purchase and the way this securely holds our bikes.
I can load the bikes securely and drive down the road in less than a minute. I’ve had no problem with the hook fastener scratching either of my bike Finishes.

Great bike rack for Travel Trailer! with word of advice
Reviewed in the United States on June 24, 2014We have a travel trailer that I installed this on. I used the adapter to mount it directly to the bumper. The installation went very smooth and easy. As others have said, the quality of the rack is very good. Loading and unloading our bikes couldn't be any easier now. I've tried other racks and methods of taking our bikes along and this is the best by far.
But - a word of advice.... The first camping trip after I installed the rack was great, loading and unloading the bikes happened in a matter of seconds! I was so pleased and proud of myself for such a wise purchase until - I was next in line at the dumping station and thought I would get a jump on the process and get the drain hose out. I popped off the bumper end cap and started pulling the hose out and "UGH" the hose wouldn't come out. I stood there for a few seconds baffled as to why I couldn't pull the hose out and then realized that when I tightened down the adapter that mounts to the bumper I "squished" the bumper slightly and that was holding the hose so that I couldn't pull it out. It took a little time but I found some wrenches and got the adapter loosened so that the hose would come out. So, the moral of this story is to make sure you don't tighten the adapter too much or you might not get your drain hose out!

This is the rack that you want for your RV and your single expensive bike. Two bikes, nope.
Reviewed in the United States on February 1, 2024Mounted on 170" wheelbase Sprinter 3500. Very solid, no rattling, no bouncing. Be aware that on this vehicle you very much need to know that your handlebars are going to be close or hit the back door of the vehicle, and won't actually clear the door unless you use only the outer mounting bracket, if the bike is a wide-handlebar mountain bike. The inner mount might work if the bike is a narrow-handlebar roadbike, but ... actually probably not. Get the extender if you are going to use both the inner and the outer positions. It's a great 1-bike carrier on this vehicle, which was my use-case.

Well thought out unit
Reviewed in the United States on July 10, 2019This unit is very well made. It is fairly light but with light bikes it is perfect. I have a $3000 mountain bike and my wife's is $1200. I added an 18 inch extender to the 2 inch reciever then put in the extender that came with the unit. I shimmed the extenders so there was no play. The Swagman end unit is fitted with 2 bolts that eliminate any movement. I added locking hitch pins at all 3 connections then I use a cable and padlock around bikes and around carrier. Then I top it with a pro bike waterproof cover. Just took it to northern Idaho from Bend Oregon mounted behind my fifth wheel camp trailer. It was perfect! Fit the bikes well, locked them in well and had no problems. For the money this thing is awesome!

Does not work for 2017 Mazda CX-5 with mountain bikes
Reviewed in the United States on August 3, 2017I bought this rack because of the great reviews. First off, I mounted this rack to my 2017 Mazda CX-5 with a class 3, 2" hitch and I have two Diamondback 27.5 mountain bikes that I intended to use on the rack. I quickly discovered it would not fit because the piece of metal that mounts to the hitch receivers is too short and therefore the bike mounted closest to the rear hatch makes contact with the vehicle. I tried maneuvering the bike tire loops and tried flipping the bike back and forth, but there was no way to mount the bikes without creating a situation where the bike pedal and or handle bar would make contact with the vehicle.
I even started looking into options with hitch extensions, but that seemed to weaken the strength of the bike rack in the first place and the more parts you use, the potential for more failure and movement can be caused when used.
The rack appears sturdy, but does seem to rattle a bit where the three bars comes together. I just requested for a return with Amazon and will continue my search for affordable bike rack with a longer mounting piece. To clarify, if this rack worked for my car with my bikes, I would probably recommend it and keep it, but sadly it does it.

Ron Smith5 out of 5 starsYou'll find this bike rack hard to beat.
Reviewed in Canada on August 5, 2020This bike rack I fitted to my RV. Assembly was easy and the only thing I needed to add was an extension bar so that the bikes could clear the ladder on the back (got that from Amazon too). Brilliant bike rack, much better than the 'hang by the crossbar' type; bikes are more stable during driving and are quick on-load/off-load. Highly recommended.

M Beerman5 out of 5 starsGood bang for the buck
Reviewed in Canada on September 5, 2023I put this bike rack on a 2016 Jayco, I had no problems mounting it to the square bumper. I did have to move my spare tire mount over a bit to fit the bikes on the back without hanging over the sides. The rack is well made and fitting the wheel rests for both bikes was snap. The mounts were solid and the locking clamps did not move at all when travelling. I had to used a piece of pool noodle to make a cap for the end of my handle bar closest to the trailer as it was about 1/2" away from the back wall. It worked great, no marks on the trailer after 16 hours of driving. Rack is very solid when installed properly.

Reviewed in Canada on September 17, 2024This is a good sturdy bike rack. My only complaint is that it rubs on the bike frame and wears the paint off. We ended up putting a pool noodle where it rubs. That worked well.

Donna Moore5 out of 5 starsNeeded some alterations
Reviewed in Canada on December 4, 2020Great bike rack for the back of our trailer, my husband did have to add an extension as the bikes were too close to the back of the trailer but the other reviews indicated that might happen, he actually cut and welded in an extension between the hitch and the rack. Otherwise your bike would rub a hole into the back of your unit. We also wrapped rags around the cross bars of the bikes under the clamps so as not to scratch the bikes - again read this in other reviews. The bikes hold well and sturdy.
